ah PD5 and “Steering 5”…
watcha doin guy?
(non steering rider for the record)
I couldn’t find a dedicated release note about steering or a related thread.
The Jasper Phillipsen steering update is ridiculous.
My guess is that you’ve implemented a conflict between bumping and steering logic, which causes the behavior. The rider who is slightly behind (half-wheeling) moving ahead of the other rider triggers some bump logic that pushes both riders to the side and both out of the lead rider’s draft.
Today, it is one of the most frustrating riding experiences possible. All this fancy and expensive steering kit is sold for a year and now we have no way to position in a pack with it. You might as well put up a video of riders and we pretend it is us doing the power.
There may be a secondary bug at play. I’ve had the kickr bike steering lock on “turn right” a few times again. This happens every 3rd update or so… and is likely a bug in the code that gets brought back in from a code branch.
That’s because ZHQ has decided that PD5 is to be developed and implemented secretly. No one knows why. Maybe even not the ZHQ guys.
I’m on a Windows 11 Laptop as well.
PC too, mine is 10 minutes but not centered.
I have my suspicions that the RoboPacers’ AI has become self-aware and is just trolling us.
This is me every ladder race as the only non-steering rider. EVERY SINGLE RACE. This has been the issue for quite some time. I’ve reported it months ago. Nothing has changed. This issue is separate from the problems caused by PD5.
No; what you’re talking about is indeed steering versus non-steering for those races. (until now)
Ladder is (was?) indeed pay to win for the teams that did all have it.
I’d say take it up with the person in charge… but they genuinely do not care, and have basically responded to others complaining about it with: “good.”
That said; I’m sure they’re experiencing the fraught of PD5 and the auto steering mess.
Ladder and WTRL TTT no longer gets to abuse riders sitting physically inside others or exterior lanes as of these recent patches.
So those teams that relied on it… well; their time has finally come to an end.
This is a new bug. People with steering have had an auto steering for over 6months but it worked really well. Now they’ve made a change to give auto steering to everyone and created a series of odd edge cases that are interacting badly with pd5
The symptom to a non steering rider is pretty similar but the impact is not caused by people choosing to steer away from them. It’s caused by the autosteer of two or more riders fighting each other
But it’s still not fixed in races. I did a ladder race after the recent update and I was still put to the side of steering riders. Steering is still very much being abused.
Correct - It is now broken for everyone
Races are not using Autosteering v5…it is only in Group Rides, WTRL TTT and Free Ride in Watopia.
Let’s see when the full release will happen.
That’s a relationship gone south on Zwift. You get half of these bikes, and the other half gets the other half. ![]()
This is just like my weekend group rides with a bunch of half wheelers. Very realistic. ![]()
Two issues:
I confirmed that the power traces is still ten minutes but it’s definitely off centered. Probably broken by the latest round of moving stuff to not overlap.
Second, I created, joined, and rode a meetup and after it ended the “join meetup” button wouldn’t stop flashing, like one frame every half second or so. I can send an iPhone Live Photo if necessary.
Anyone else having issues with rear view? TvOS + Zwift Play. My other buttons seem to work, not sure if it’s the controller, or a ‘feature’.
Rear view only works in certain circumstances, doesn’t it? Races I think, and I’m not sure about group rides.
I assume you’re talking about the down button on the controller giving rear view as opposed to being for a u-turn if you hold it.
You are right, though I was in a group ride …
Would have helped if I mentioned that … ![]()
