Game Update - September 3rd, 2020

The fence should go, if you want to ride with the beacon that is your choice. Some riders go ahead but come back to the beacon.

Three things that Iā€™ve noticed:

  • after the update and using a gaming PC set on highest resolution in game. The image was unstable. I down-graded the resolution and upgraded again and all was ok. Maybe a local issue?

  • On the KISS AT Base ride. Many riders noticed how hard it was to stay in the draft. I was having to put out more w/kg than the leader and was near to the leader and yet the lead (keeping a stable w/kg) would surge ahead/I surged backwards. The draft with large groups appears not to be working properly?

  • Late join and only a small proportion of the riders near me (eg 10) appeared on the HUD at any time.

Ride on.

Dave.

I do wonder what UAT testing is carried out before any release???

Good ā€¦ Iā€™d rather always have the choice of what I link ā€¦ Especially with facebook these days

Two goes for Rebel Route: Toutes les Routes this morning, two crashes in exactly same spot after 21 mins of riding. Get everything ready for big ride, be ready mentally for it and then this happensā€¦ twice. So frustrated.

Fun for you but your actions affect other people and decrease the enjoyment they have because you knowingly are breaking the rules of the group ride which is " follow the leader".

Instead of hijacking an existing ride and breaking the guidelines for that, why donā€™t you just create a Meetup?

The fence is really the only method for a social ride overall to maintain the listed pace, the leaders seem to appreciate that aspect, maybe it even encourages them to keep leading events. If participants would like to ignore the fence and go faster they might consider becoming a leader themselves and leading their own higher wpk events. That would be a win / win for everyone involved. Just a thought. Races are always going to be free for allā€™s, thatā€™s why we choose to do them when motivated.

Make sure both devices (running the Zwift app and the companion app) are on the same WiFi band (2G/5G).

Will try that next time. Have to read up on how that works. Thanks

For 2.5 years Iā€™ve been a monthly subscriber. During that time, Iā€™ve defended Zwift as it was a growing platform that was providing me with a wonderful community of riders and a fun way to ride safely and easily, despite having occasional issues and bugs. It was easy to overlook things because it was a unique experience.
That time has now passed. Time and time again, we are told that features weā€™ve been requesting and promised for years will be ā€˜coming soon.ā€™ Time and time again we are fed lies and led on.
This recent update is complete garbage. The app is crashing, the bot feature is glitchy, ERG mode appears broken and we still donā€™t have any of the features weā€™ve been asking for. Itā€™s completely unacceptable.
Does Zwift not test any of these updates before releasing them? Because if you are, then that means youā€™re choosing to release a broken app.
Itā€™s become abundantly clear that Zwift and Eric Min have put all of their eggs into the UCI/ecycling basket at the expense of the community that has made Zwift what it is. As a member of the community, I challenge Zwift and all of their employees to show me, and us, that you care. Because if this year has proven anything to me, itā€™s that you donā€™t.
Zwift has a community of passionate riders that are providing valuable feedback, offering suggestions and improvements. Yet, you donā€™t communicate with us, you donā€™t listen to us and you continue to blatantly lie to us. Itā€™s disheartening and infuriating.
I donā€™t expect anything to change. I expect Zwift to continue full steam ahead towards their goal of UCI and Olympic glory. I expect that we (the community) will continue to be an afterthought. But if things continue the way they are, I also expect Zwift to utterly fail. The ball is in your court, Zwift. Prove me wrong.

To give credit where credit is due, we got the warning if you are offline at the save and exit screen with this update. I donā€™t know how long that has been on anyoneā€™s wish list, but I have seen a lot of forum users ask for it.

Overall, I agree with you. It feels very much that their focus is on professional cyclists, professional events and pandering to the UCI with the assumption that what is good for the pros will be good for all the rest of us peons. A good example of this is the upcoming esports Worlds Championships in December not inviting any community Zwift teams.

And the eventual IPO to chase Peloton on stock marketā€¦

Agreed. We arenā€™t stupid. We know all of this is leading to an IPO.

Yet, we still have to exit the app to go back to the main menu or switch worlds.

This is all so annoying I have the same issue spotting sprint starts

2 Crashes in 1 hour after 10 mins and 25 mins today. Never had a crash since zwift was released until today. Hope this gets fixed as wont be using it again until it is.

@Graham_Rangel-Sharp Would you mind to help and put more details on the thread here Zwift crashes [v 1.0.55226] SOLVED - #8

This, to me, is the most infuriating thing about Zwift. Warming up then having to exit and start my main ride then having to exit and restart for my warm down :exploding_head:
