The smart version broadcasts ANT/Bluetooth (like a trainer or heart rate monitor) which Zwift detects. The non-smart version is just the shell and doesn’t contain any electronics.
Thanks. Looks like zwift is the only place to get the smart one and it’s sold out
The Sterzo (and other steering plates to follow) are measuring angle, and that means Zwift can use both the angle (where you are pointing your wheel) and the rate of change (how fast you move your wheel from side to side) to control your avatar.
Does anybody have any suggestions how simple button presses could be used to replace a Sterzo? That is, how can you get from on/off button presses to an angular reading (where you can control the angle and rate it is changing)?
Here is our first look at the TitaniumGeek Zwift Steering - the Elite Sterzo Smart is here!! - YouTube
I wondered about this too. At the very least, steering should make it easier to avoid getting sucked into the draft. Just take a wider line around the riders in front.
Any chance of including the NEO Track steering frame ANT+ signal at any point? It is certainly a much more stable steering block than the ELITE.
Tacx don’t sell it any more do they? For that reason, I wouldn’t expect them to bother supporting it.
Zwift steering is simply placing your rider left or right on the road. Angle is largely irrelevant for that. Using simple buttons you would just move the rider a bit left or right. The longer you hold the button the further your rider moves. Want to move faster? Hit the button faster.
Thousands of PC racing games can handle keyboard steering. I think even Zwift could manage this simple coding exercise.
There are a ton out there for sale and with steering a thing now I’m sure it would be nothing to start making them again. Wishful thinking on my part… maybe?
But just in case I did some homework for Zwift’s engineers…

I can’t see the pairing option for accessories in the Apple TV app. Is this out on Apple TV?
@Moby_Parkes IIRC it will only show the accessories pairing if you have a Sterzo Smart and it is on. If you don’t have this equipment then that screen will never show up.
Ah got it. Have one on order, hopefully here this week. Thank you.
I predict someone will disassemble a Sterzo and mount the (rotational?) position sensor on handlebars with a thumb-wheel or similar.
Hoping @Keith_Wakeham-7256 can find a way to imitate it with a PS4 pad.
I agree. I’ve been using the Neo Track for a while now and the steering feel is far more neutral than the Sterzo. The rotational pivot point is at the centre of the front wheel, rather than behind it like the Sterzo, plus as you mention, stability is far greater when used with a Neo 2. Tons for sale online and at retailers, certainly in the UK, and a frustrating oversight by Zwift.
It’s only the best engineered steering solution out there and it has been completed ignored. I just don’t get it??? Ahead of its time I guess.
Where is it sold in the UK, out of interest?

Looks like they may be sold out though.
