I noticed the the fondo groups are only A,B,C. Is there no D group like other events? Is this the same designation for w/kg, or a different means of categorizing the rides by different routes/lengths?
It is not the same as categorizing the rides by w/kg. These categories stands for the length and heaviness of the ride:
- Gran Fondo / A Group = The most challenging route
- Medio Fondo / B Group = Find a good pace and push to the finish, or find a group with similar goals and work together to complete the distance.
- Bambino Fondo / C Group = Great for the time-crunched or first time Fondo rider.
