(Fixed) Zwift Companion Apple watch is crashing

That did the trick! So still a bug in iPhone Zwift but with this workaround no problem no more  Used to work fine with only iPhone although better resolution via MacBook also. Thx again!!!

Update: installed Zwift native app on iPhone, after that it works in companion app, too!
(i don’t know how that’s effect but I’m happy now.)

Looks like a Zwift Companion app fix update just dropped, specifically for this.
Will try it today. Update your apps folks, and Ride On.

Exactly, there is a update for companion app. Ride on!

Still broken for me. Zwift app crashing on Apple Watch when pairing. Updated Zwift Companion on Apple iPhone. Main Zwift app hasn’t been updated though.

Just deleted and reinstalled Zwift and Zwift Companion on Apple iPhone. Still not reading HR and app still crashing on Apple Watch.

I do have the same problem… I’ve reinstalled the apps on both my Iphone and my Apple watch and it doesn’t pair anymore and therefore can’t get my HR…

Does anybody know if this issue is still being looked at?

Same problem. Emailed Zwift. This was their unsatisfying answer;

Hi Bastiaan,

Thanks for reaching out to Zwift Support!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues getting your Apple Watch to get a signal to Zwift. I would recommend checking out our support article on heart rate monitors here. Partway down the article is a list of steps that should help you get your Apple Watch to show signal in Zwift.

Also, It’s important to note that support for Apple Watch in Zwift is in beta (testing) and may not be a very intuitive or simple process for some Zwifters. For a more hassle-free experience, we recommend using any number of other supported heart rate monitors that pair to Zwift via ANT+ and/or BLE.

If there’s anything else we can help you with, please let us know.

Thanks

Best,
Nathan Blanchard

Mine did start working again this weekend. I got the Zwift companion update. Hoping the rest of you get up and riding again soon!

Zwift Support believe they have fixed this.

My Apple Watch apps are still crashing.

Who else is still having problems?

This is four days out of action now.

Am I the only one left with this problem?

The Companion App should be working fine with the new update, but I believe everyone is still having issues with the Zwift app on iOS.

Having the same problem.

Apple Watch 4, Zwift is constantly crashing and does not show bpms.

Still having same problem after the new update. Complete waste of time now having to use a third party app as companion is useless

I just made the companion apps update and everyting is working fine

Got it working today. Had to reboot the iPhone and watch. Did not work with just the new app install

On my Apple Warch 5, the Zwift app crashes still. As soon as I start the Zwift app on the iPhone Xs (not Zwift Companion), the app also starts on the Apple Watch, but crashes there immediately. When I try to manually start the app on the Apple Watch, it opens in an infinite loop, closed, opened, etc.

Will there be an update for the Zwift app on iOS?

I have an iPhone 11 Pro, Apple Watch 5, and Apple TV. All running the latest software patches and all the most up to date Zwift apps. I cannot pair my Apple Watch at all through the companion app when opening Zwift on Apple TV. If I open Zwift on my phone, it crashes when I start a ride. Apple Watch won’t pair with the phone and crashes every time I try to open the game on my phone.

Everything worked fine the first time I tried it (last week), but hasn’t worked since. At this point I’m just riding without heart rate and praying for a fix soon.

The companion app was fixed, but if you’re running the game app from your phone with Apple Watch it’s that that’s crashing. Zwift have apologised and said they submitted a fix to Apple on Saturday, so it should have been released on App Store by now. They’re expecting it to be released very soon anyway. Fingers crossed. To re-iterate, it’s the main app that’s causing the crash on Apple Watch and it’s been a problem since the new OS was released for the Watch last week.
