This seems quite unusual to me, as I have an iFit treadmill, which allows for three different profiles on the same account on the same treadmill. Similarly, other memberships in our household, such as Netflix, SkyShowtime, and Max, all offer multiple profiles.
This is just a money grab. Because of this, I will not be subscribing. To pay double for a 10 year old to use this intermittently is absolutely insane. No thanks.
I enjoy zwift and my wife occasionally uses my account but is put off by the fact it doesn’t link with her apple fitness (as is linked to my Garmin). The price for 2nd membership doesn’t warrant her occasional use and I urge Zwift to put out a family plan at a similar price to ROUVY to help encourage occasional users of keener Zwifters.
I have written to Zwift who said they’re looking into it but I see posts on the family plan from 2016.
I only hope that now there is competition in the market from other companies who offer reasonably priced family plans that Zwift will do the same, otherwise, to encourage fitness for 2 busy working parents we may have to look elsewhere.
Whatever people think of Zwift, good or bad, it is first & foremost a business, to that end their main priority is to make money. It’s the most expensive app on the market when, imo, it doesn’t have to be given the amount of people on it. I used to use FulGaz which gave you full access for yourself & another at no extra cost, I believe it’s been taken over by Rouvy now so I’m not sure what their pricing is but I will be looking when my year is up.
This subscription was bought for me by my wife for my birthday when she saw I was on the trial, I wouldn’t have paid for it myself.
This post seems to have attracted lot soft interest yet 6 year later, nothing’s changed. Here’s my situation if anyone at Zwift is reading. I am fed up with lugging my bike in and out of the lounge and am eyeing up the Zwift frame. Both my daughters and wife have said they would liker to use an indoor bike frame. However, they’re not keen cyclists and it would only be occasional/casual usage. They value fitness, but aren’t hugely into the Zwift game aspect - though they’d have it on the tablet while watching TV, as an alternative activity to rowing. Under the current set-up with a family of 4 we’d be paying £72 p/m. This is insane, and is simply not happening. So, why not offer a metred solution whereby a primary rider pays current fee, and then other householders can hop on occasionally as guests either as a bolt on price or just at a greatly reduced fee. I find it utterly bonkers that you’ve not prioritised solving for this after so many years of customers asking for it. The price keeps going up for what appears to be quite marginal gains. Why not prioritise this!
I’m in favor of having a family plan, but for someone who doesn’t care about the game, don’t run the game. Use the Wahoo app or a cycling computer or a Garmin watch or QZ or really any app that suits your needs to run a workout and watch TV. No need to use Zwift for that.
Subject: A Call for Inclusive and Affordable Multi-User Plans for Couples and Families
To the Zwift Community and Management Team,
As a new member of the Zwift network and someone entirely new to the world of cycling, I am reaching out to share feedback on a significant barrier to entry that I believe is hindering the platform’s growth and accessibility: the current subscription model for multi-user households.
My decision to purchase a smart trainer and join Zwift was driven by a desire to improve my fitness and that of my wife, serving as a crucial, low-cost stepping stone before we invest substantial money in road bikes and outdoor gear.
The Current Problem: Cost Barrier to Shared Fitness
Zwift successfully promotes health, fitness, and community, yet the current subscription structure forces every household member to pay the full, premium price. In a time when money is tight for everyone, paying full price for two or more individuals within the same household—especially a couple or family—is simply beyond the budget of many potential and existing users.
The lack of a dedicated:
-
Couple’s Plan (two riders at the same address)
-
Family Plan (three or more riders)
…is a significant oversight in a community that thrives on shared passion and is often consumed by multiple members of a household. This structure is not reflective of a service that aims to be widely accessible and encourages shared fitness journeys.
A Solution for Growth and Inclusivity
I urge the Zwift team to reconsider the current model and implement a more inclusive, tiered subscription structure.
Proposed New Plans:
Plan Type Suggested Price Model Rationale
Couple’s Plan A moderate discount off the combined full price (e.g., $X% off the second subscription). Recognizes shared usage, promotes joint fitness, and is common practice across subscription services (e.g., streaming, gym memberships).
Family Plan A progressive discount for the third and subsequent users.
The Benefits to Zwift
Implementing these plans would not cannibalize revenue; rather, it would:
Increase User Retention: Couples and families are more likely to stay subscribed long-term when the cost is manageable.
Drive Acquisition: Lowering the entry barrier for the second user will encourage more households to bring both partners onto the platform immediately.
Enhance Goodwill: It demonstrates that Zwift is committed to inclusive health and fitness, not just maximizing revenue per household.
Strengthen the Community: More concurrent riders within a shared space naturally leads to more in-game interaction and greater network value.
Zwift has built an incredible platform. Please help make it financially accessible to the couples and families who want to share in this fitness journey. We are eager to train and explore Zwift together—just without the double-premium price tag.
P.S. My wife is consistently crushing my $W/kg stats, proving that the motivation of a shared training goal is a powerful tool you should be monetizing responsibly!
Just have a go at MyWhoosh, the layout is very similar & it’s free to use.
I’ve checked out Zwift, it’s cool – but is it cool enough? Support told me to post my request here, but I see this thread has been around since 2016!?! There are four of us in the family.
M y W h o o s h via AppleTV will be my solution – free for the whole family
. If Zwift gets in touch when they have a family subscription, will I still want to switch? Customer lost for now.
It’s an excellent app considering it cost nothing, I’ll be back myself when this subscription runs out in April.
Do any of the other apps support the Zwift frame/shifter/cog ensemble? I thought that was likely to be the issue for the previous poster.
Anything doing ERG mode or resistance mode will work with the trainer. The Ride frame is irrelevant in that scenario. Virtual shifting is only needed in simulation mode.
