Failed update Error Z117 message

Does anyone know what this message means? I have contacted Zwift several times but no solutions they suggest work, and they finally gave up. My software seems to be up to date though . I get the same message after each update?

Hi Paul.. yeah send logs to Zwift, uninstall/ install etc.. but they couldn’t find a solution, but as I say the update seems to be the current one.. but still getting these messages..

Another way to restart the process in a relatively clean state would be to create a new Windows user account, make it an administrator, log in with the new account and install Zwift again. If it fails when you do that then there’s probably something about the Windows environment on that computer that is causing problems with writing the files.

Mmmm, I think I might leave it as it is, there are no problems as yet with the actual running of zwift, and the update seems to be the most recent one, I just wanted to stop these messages if there wasn’t an issue, and wondered if anyone else had experienced this.

Forgot to say, if the update had failed as per the message.. the update in the system tray wouldn’t be showing , I wouldn’t have thought..

Shuji at Zwift HQ here. Scanning through your server logs, I can see that your PC is running Zwift Launcher v1.1.14.

Installing Launcher v1.1.15 or newer may help solve this error. The main difference is that your Zwift files will no longer be written to your Documents folde after updating to 1.1.15+

To be thorough, I’d recommend you completely uninstall Zwift-related files following these instructions.
Then download the latest version of the game (including the latest launcher build) from zwift.com/downloads.
Would you give that a try and let us know that clears this up?

I had the same a while ago. Turned out to be a lack of space on my HD. When I free’d up a few gb the message went away and hasnt returned since.

Thanks for the input, this is a new gaming computer with a ssd which has next to nothing stored.. so my problem is probably not connected to that!

I experienced similar issues on Windows 11. In my case, switching the DNS server to Cloudflare was the solution. It significantly improved the connection stability with the launcher and the game itself. It’s definitely worth a try if you’re hitting those annoying network timeouts.

Thank you for the advice.. I have no issue with the S/W .. its just the message despite the update installed successfully..

Hi there, thanks for the advice, I will try this and see what happens , as I say the game version is showing in the system tray as the latest one.

There is no apparent problem with the launcher or game software, as far as I can tell its function is normal.

I will let you know, but sometimes it takes a while for the error message to appear…. It doesn’t show immediately post update.
