I use a Tacx Neo2 and and Ipad - and have for a very long time. Recently, I’ve been having trouble getting ERG mode to “engage”. Everything connects (Power Source and Controller), I select Erg mode - but the trainer never provides any resistance. Free-rides seem like the correct resistance (up/down hills) - but ERG mode won’t work. Any advice??
Looks like the new update broke the ERG for me as well… Cant see the button anymore
Hi @_Rahul , it looks like your most recent activity didn’t have a trainer paired to Controllable. Has the ERG mode button been missing on other activities?
Hello @Andrew_Schultz1938 , we’ll be happy to investigate this more if you’d like to reach out in a Support ticket. I’m on a Tacx Neo 2T myself and haven’t noticed this, but maybe there’s a root cause we can find by looking into your logs and activities.
I would recommend making sure that ERG works in the Tacx app. From there, you could do an ERG workout in Zwift with the FTP% bias set overly high to make sure that resistance applies. Either way, we’ll be happy to help.
@Rowdy i think I experienced something similar yesterday during a workout. Been forever since doing a workout with Erg instead of a group ride. But when the step went from ~150W to ~240W didn’t feel the Kickr Bike applying resistance. I had to shift gears. I had just installed the latest update right before that ride. Not sure if it’s related to that.
Hi @D_Watson ! Did ERG eventually catch up and apply resistance correctly for the remainder of the workout or did you have to keep shifting?
Similar issue for me. Haven’t used zwift for 2 months. Now that I have re-joined, which was prefaced by an update to zwift v 1.45, ERG doesn’t seem to work. I either have to shift myself or increase the cadence. The resistance doesn’t follow the terrain either just doesn’t seem to respond. Using a Tacx flux and paired it both as a power supply and controllable. Unsure if related but power display has also become erratic despite 3s average being enabled since the update/since re-joining.
@Rowdy i ended up shifting throughout the workout to hit the targets.
I have another workout coming up Saturday so I’ll test again and let you know. I’ll also connect the Kickr Bike to the wahoo app before and test Erg there prior to the Zwift workout to rule out it being an issue with the bike.
@Rowdy another report of a Wahoo device ERG being broken. ERG not engaging on Workout mode
I forgot to test mine last weekend but I have a workout today so will post back later to confirm if the issue is still present for me.
I am running a Kickr Snap (up to date Firmware) and up to date Zwift.
I did a workout yesterday ERG mode didnt engage at all, I just tried to stick to the power numbers to get an active workout. Afterwards I played around with the watts on the Wahoo app to check if it was my trainer, but that worked fine.
This problem seems to have been persisting for about a month and i’m close to giving up on Zwift.
Anyone else having issues or found a fix?
Hi @Max_Langlands, welcome to the forums! I was able to check back at your recent workouts and it looks like ERG mode was turned off sometime in July.
When you’re selecting your next workout on Zwift, make sure to select the “Use ERG mode” button on the workout details page (Seen in the image on this support article). You can always disable ERG mode during the workout if you wish.

Check out this thread as well
@Andrew_Schultz1938 , how have your recent workouts felt? I’ve done a few workouts on my iPad with my Neo 2T but haven’t had any ERG issues in 1.45.0.
@Rowdy it has not been an issue the last few times. on Zwift start-up, it tries to automatically find the Neo2T. I’ve just been clicking it off and choosing it manually - and it has fixed the issues.
I’ll report back again if it happens so you can check the logs.
thanks.
@Rowdy did a workout earlier today on the Kickr bike and Erg was working. Not sure if use Erg from selecting the workout wasn’t checked the first time. But all good on my end now.
Hi @Rowdy, thanks for your reply.
Ok, I’ll check this later. I remember turning it off and on to see if that would help it engage and that didn’t work.
Will report back!
Just did a work out and ERG worked. It was switched off, which makes me feel like a bit of an idiot haha!
But it defo was playing up before, which is when I must have turned it off and forgotten.
Thanks for your help Rowdy!
