Hey.
I have some weird issues with ERG-mode, and since I love ERG-mode it’s a big problem for me.
I’m on a Tacx Flux S, I currently have two of them in different parts of the world and I’ve had another one before and they have always worked fine, and Tacx Flux S is the only trainer I know so following description of my feelings, sensations and ideas is not from comparing Tacx Flux S with other trainers.
My issues are that the trainer does’nt release resistance when I go over the prescribed wattage. Like the trainer is braking me, which gives a feeling of being on a dumb trainer with consequense I can’t perform. It feels very sluggish, like riding in water with flat tires and a chain that barely moves. With the Tacx Flux S and Zwift I’ve always been able to choose what gearing on the bike whatever the prescribed wattage is in ERG mode, and when I feel strong during intervals I’ve needed to increase resistance with the Companion app because the trainer has released resistance to keep me on track during the workout. I’ve loved it since it actually feels like I’m riding a bicycle.
Now, t does’nt. I’m stuck at low gears with a feeling the trainer is working against me, can’t get any momentum going and when I go 20,30, 50 or 100 watts over Zwift says reduce power and the trainer does nothing. I’ve had the the trainer disconnected to see if there is a change, but nothing. The trainer acts like “Unplugged” when connected.
I’ve compared the watts with my power meter and I have no complaints with that.
And when I go under the prescribed wattage during ERG the trainer adds resistance and makes it more difficult to pedal, the spiral of death starts, so the trainer can add resistance.
I have zero understanding of the mechanics and such of a trainer but my “feeling” is that there is “default brake” in the trainer, with the number 0, and depending if you go over or under your prescribed wattage in ERG it adds or releases the brake. My trainer can only add. To be more clear, this is just another way to try to explain what I feel and experience and not actually how it really works.
I’ve tried bluetooth, ant+, havin my bike pm reporting power instead, bridging with my phone and so on. No difference.
Is this an known issue, with solutions. I only found people to have issues with no resistance. My trainer has no warranty and is located in a country without Garmin Support or postal service so I have to figure this out myself.
I really miss the flywheel spinning with the chain on 53-11 during threshold intervals
