Elite Direto (base model) no virtual shifting

Hi,
I’ve just updated my Direto to the latest firmware which has been confirmed by the Elite support team that it now supports virtual shifting.
I have now received my Cog and Click upgrade. However, I can’t pair the Click device in the Zwift game. I have paired the device in the Zwift companion app and have successfully updated its Firmware to the latest version.
The strange this is, when I’ve looked at the log files I can see the follow recorded (see below) which indicates Zwift can see the device but is hiding it from the menu.
When I log into Zwift, on the pairing screen in Zwift, I can pair my trainer (via Bluetooth) but don’t get no options when I select Controls? Why is Zwift hiding the Click from the options screen?

Is it a plain Direto? Because that doesn’t support virtual shifting at these point. It’s just the Direto XR right now.

Hi @Clayton_Moore1634871 welcome to Zwift forums.

Shuji at Zwift HQ here. I’m seeing two things in your server logs that are working against you. You’re logging into Zwift on two different Apple TVs, a Windows PC, and and iPhone, no doubt to troubleshoot. When you log in from multiple devices without properly logging out - it creates a situation where your trainer / Click have not disconnected from some other device.

Power off all these other devices where the Zwift app is installed and stick to whichever is your main Zwifting computer.
Then, power cycle your main Zwifiting computer, as well as the trainer.

I have to take your word for this, because I’m not seeing which firmware version the Click is using on my end. The latest version is v1.1.0, please confirm?

This snippet from your logs show an odd pairing sequence. In the Pairing Screen - connect your devices left to right, top to bottom.

  • Power > Resistance > Cadence > Controller in that order using the Bluetooth signals. (ANT+ is not a factor for you, but for others reading along - Virtual Shifting does not work if you use ANT).
  • When you pair the Resistance signal - there may be a lag of ~15 seconds before that signal appears. This lag is expected and normal.

Try those things, please, and let us know if that solves it?

Hi Shuji, thanks for the swift response.
Unfortunately I’m still not having much luck.
Apologies for all the different device logins as you said, it was my attempt at troubleshooting.

Firstly I can confirm the Click firmware is up to date:

Secondly, I’ve powered down all device and power cycled my main Apple tv and my Direto.
I’ve logged in and paired the device in the order you explained:

I’ve then selected the control option but the Click still isn’t listed:

Not sure what I am doing wrong? Or is it just my trainer is too old ?

Ps I did power down my Apple TV and tried again on my Apple phone - still with no luck.

Regards
Clay

If it’s a Direto XR or XR-T then it’s not too old. If it’s some other Direto then it may be.

This is the problem. @Clayton_Moore1634871 you have a Direto and not a Direto XR. The Direto doesn’t right now support virtual shifting. However, Elite have said it’s coming in a future firmware update - https://www.elite-it.com/en/news/direto-xr-t-unlock-virtual-shifting-on-zwift

Thanks guys,

This is what I figured - the only reason I pursued the issue was when I reached out to the Elite support team (who had all my details including model, serial number, and firmware version) they gave me false hope by stating the following:

"if you can’t see the Click (Zwift’s product) on the Zwift app, normally you have to check the bluetooth on your device or the Zwift app.
The Click is directly connected with the app so it is not related to the trainer.

And yes, the last firmware version for the Direto has the Zwift virtual gear inside and you can use with the Cog&Click.
Check the site of Zwift to verify how to configure that device in their app."
