I was doing the Giro de Rigo this morning (40k) and 0.8k to finish the app froze and kicked me out of everything without finishing the event nor registering my progress.
This is very frustrating…Zwifters don’t participate in events for this final experience…
Is there any way to recover the workout or redeem prices?
Same history one year later.
I had a very similar experience but got kicked out right at the start and was not able to join again. I ended up riding 73k anyway but obviously can’t get the jersey or the ride in my history.
Hello.
Big problem as well for me on the event of 2:05pm the 15th November. Zwift was freezed for almost 3 hours to conclude on a 1h20 ride compared to the 3h40 I spent on the Home trainer. I hoped it would come back but no… A bit disappointed😞
I signed for the Sunday the 15, 8:05 Giro de Rigo and from the start having issues I ended up riding hour and a half and only registered 3 + miles and timed me for like 13 min. Totally disappointed. Didn’t even get credit for it it just said watopia.
I rode this event twice today, with no issues whatsoever. I’m guessing that there is some issue with each of your setups, whether it be spotty internet, inadequate systems specs, or something else. Thousands of people did this event today, and there are very few comments, which would seem to indicate that the issue isn’t on the Zwift side of the equation.
Similar experience to Joel’s, kicked out 30secs into the 8am race and could not reenter. App crashed. Successfully completed the 10am event and recieved my jersey.
I had big problems at the start. It seemed to be trying to display all 2500 riders at once on screen and minimap. I was getting 1 frames per second with a sea of bikes with no avatars! Usually on these mass fondo style rides it limits the amount of riders on screen at once (100 maybe not sure) but not this time. It settled down after a while but after 20 mins real time riding the in game timer only read 15 mins, it also added about 0.5 miles to the distance ridden compared to those not affected - very odd.
I have a decent gaming pc and a 200mb wired connection and after 5 years of zwifting I’ve never seen it that bad before…
What were you using to run Zwift?
I was running mine on an old iPad … based on the above comment that might be the issue. It was trying to render all 2500 riders leaving at once and crashed. I have had major slow downs before where I am riding and a giant pack of riders comes by but never a full crash like this. I was not able to ride the other same races later in the day so just rode the same distance on my own but couldn’t get the jersey. Frustrating but a good workout nonetheless.
So I wonder if there is a way for thé Zwift app to adjust based on the device it is running on and adjust quality or quantify or information being processed to avoid this?
I had exactly the same issue. I am using a Huawei Mediapad M5 which is on the recommended list of hardware. Completed several group rides before but those had only hundreds of users.
It’s not the ipad that’s the issue. I don’t know what the riders shown on screen at once limit is exactly (must be around 100 or something) but it was trying to show everyone. That’s never going to end well, regardless of what device/PC it’s running on.
I had the same experience!
I participeted in 2 diferent events and both crashed on my Apple TV 4K!
My AppleTv Zwift app crashed at 25.5 kms and I’ve lost my activity. I became upset and I’ve subscribed another event of the El Giro de Rigo at 5:10 pm, in the same class. I finished the event and when I was saving the activity, my app crashed again and I lost all my activity. Zwift does not recognize my activities as the El Giro de Rigo event!! The time spent on the activity is incorrect, too. I did not received the reward of complete the event, but a lot of e-mails congratulating me as I completed it.
This is very frustrating and Zwift support do not solved or answered my e-mails
