Hi all,
Was enjoying my first stage - long in Makuri. I was going really well in a great group, but Zwift just dropped me out at the halfway ( 13 mile) mark very suddenly. Wi-Fi working fine. Seemed to be a couple of other riders who reported being dropped out too.
Zwift gave me the option to rejoin the event when I re- loaded, but weirdly I came back in out of the event and wearing the Zwift orange kit not my usual kit!
Last year was super reliable, but seems as if we have taken a step back this year again? Any others experiencing problems?
Not the biggest issue ever, but does knock confidence for future stages!
BW!
So did the game exit entirely? If so it sounds like it may have crashed, in which case I would want to know the details about what you are running the game on. If it’s a Windows PC, which CPU and GPU, and how much RAM is installed?
Hi. Sorry just came back in to put that detail as pretty important!
Running Zwift from an iPad on ipadios 16.7.10
So not the latest version of iOS. App is up to date. It’s been super reliable for a good time. It just always seems there are problems with the big events for some reason. I’ll try again tomorrow and keep fingers crossed!
Any situation where there is a large number of riders on screen will result in higher CPU utilization. That means more power draw on an iPad, and more heat. Is the iPad plugged in to a 2 amp charger when this happens, or running on battery?
Hi again Paul.
I’m using a lightning adapter to get the picture up onto a tv screen. As such, it is drawing in some charge.
Apologies for any lack of technical detail!
The Lightning HDMI adapter also requires extra power. Is the adapter one that you also plug into a tablet charger? You should definitely have it plugged in, and you should not use one of those wimpy 1 amp chargers made for phones, and you could consider doing another big Tour de Zwift event with the Lightning HDMI adapter not connected.
You should also check that the internal storage in the tablet is not full.
Thanks Paul. I will check out all of those and report back.
Really appreciate all of your advice!

Hi again Paul.
Sorry for slow update. It’s been a super busy period. I managed to complete the long Stage 1 Tour de Zwift on Friday with success!
I checked iPad storage which was good - about 40gb of 128gb capacity.
However, I had swapped the charger for an iPhone one on the previous round as Ihad been using the Lightning Adapter on my TV. Tthe change back to one with more capacity seems to have cured it! This was what you suspected!
Thanks for your advice and technical knowledge and assistance. Really appreciated!
