Disconnect mid ride Neo tacx 2t

Hi everyone

I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction, this evening i have completed a 20 min ‘make it sting’ activity. Everything was golden, feeling good and decided to complete an FTP to give myself a good baseline leading up to a tri next year.

3-4 mins into the warm up for the FTP my trainer drops all resistance - the trainer at this point is still showing as connected and regardless of how much i pedal it doesn’t read the input.
i exit the ride thinking it was something to do with the route / internet connection.

Apon futher investigation it looks to me (i am still relatively new to this whole gig) that the trainer has overheated and gone into limp mode ? is that possible?

Current symptoms are:
1 -Fans on - no lights a left hand side to signal bluetooth or life at all
2 -All fans / cooling zones on the trainer are working * a quick google showed me that cooling might an issue on these models
3 - relauncing zwift shows me that i can no longer connect to the trainer.
4 - using the garmin app doesnt also show me the trainer v

can anyone offer me any advice what the issue could be or am i barking up the right tree and its over heated ?

Thankyou for your time and replies!

You should contact Garmin support, but if you happen to be in the UK you could also talk to The Turbo Trainer Doctor for a second opinion. I would unplug the trainer, give it a rest, see if you can test it in the Garmin app.

Thanks paul!!
I have sent the doctor a message. I appreciate your help!

I had a similar issue back when my neo 2t was still relative new and under warranty.
I investigated and the capacitors were faulty.
Since it was under warranty Garmin (then TacX) replaced it, but since yours likely isn’t you could see if the capacitors are swollen and if so swap them with same capacity Japanese ones (unplug and ground them first to avoid electrocution).
