If you have a Kickr V6 model running firmware 5.6.13, then dropouts are not unexpected. I’ve been running 1.115 for a while with no dropouts, but not using a Kickr V6 so my experience is not relevant to this topic.
I had a drop with the new zwift version
Drops to 0 watt still happening, new Zwift version probably has nothing to do with it. It should be a problem with the wahoo Kickr v6 smart trainer firmware… ![]()
Multiple dropouts for me again today, too. This is getting really frustrating now. ![]()
From Wahoo support:
Hey there Joseph!
Thanks for contacting Wahoo Fitness Support. I’m so sorry to hear you’re impacted by this issue!
We’re aware of the dropout bug and are currently working on a fix. This issue seems to be independent of connection type, impacting WiFi, DIRCON and Bluetooth connections. **We are not considering a firmware rollback at this time. **
No worries, I’ll keep this ticket open and get back to you ASAP with an update. We’re well aware of the issue, the forum discussion, etc. We’re working diligently to get this solved. We’ve heard through the grapevine and other customers that using a separate power meter instead of the trainer’s built-in power data works as a temporary solution.
If behavior returns to normal before I can get back to you, please let me know! Otherwise, I’ll be in touch once we have a permanent solution in place. Thanks for your patience and understanding while we work through this.
Cheers,
Scott
Wahooligan Experience SME for Trainers
It’s affecting all hardware that received a firmware update on June 1st which is the Kickr V6 and Kickr Bike Pro
I can confirm, that using a different power source does work. I’m using my Assiomas right now, but it still feels weird at times. The lag between the power from the pedals and the resistance change from the trainer is notably different compared to using just the kickr6 - at least for my feeling. I also noticed some power drops in my rides. For just 1 or 2 seconds the power drops to zero, the resistance is completely gone but luckily restores very fast back.
So Wahoo basically recommends us in the meantime to turn our expensive smart trainers into dumb trainers and use our own alternative power meters ![]()
If they simply allowed us to rollback the firmware they can then take as long as they like to find a fix… hell they could take 6+ months for all I care as I didn’t ask or want the new firmware anyway. everything was 100% before its release and no one even knows what it actually does anyway. The patch notes say ‘stability fixes’ and yet its offered us exactly the opposite.
Its more likely the firmware has nothing to do with bugs and stability as I wasn’t aware of any issues with the V6 before and the previous firmware was from Dec 2025! likely its actually a firmware change to either send more info back to them, or possibly in relation to future unreleased products maybe for compataibilty.
I dont have separate power meters to try and Im not buying some when I spent a fortune on their flagship trainer in the first place. I would rather go off and buy a different brand of trainer if they dont fix this very soon.
Interesting information. Me too, instead of spending 600 bucks on pedals with power meter I would rather buy a low budget trainer. Nevertheless I still hope wahoo is going to provide a fix asap. So far I always had a very positive opinion about wahoo, this is the first really frustrating thing ![]()
Just curious if it’s a lesson learned or can even be applied for the future. Is it optional for Wahoo trainers to allow automatic firmware updates?
No it is not. Your options are (1) do not connect the trainer to WiFi or Ethernet, or (2) block the trainer from accessing the Internet in your home network equipment (eg, apply Parental Controls to Wahoo - a fitting concept given their irresponsible behavior).
This wins for ‘best comment 2026’ thus far. ![]()
Ah I am so glad in a way its not just me. TTT and just now on SW After Work drop out after drop out.
The fix seems to have been released:
Hello there Ciaranmeaney, Thanks for contacting Wahoo Fitness Support, and thank you for your patience as we’ve worked through connection dropouts impacting KICKR v6 units under firmware 5.6.13. As of June 12, 2026 we have updated KICKR v6 firmware to 5.6.20 to address these dropouts. If your KICKR is connected to WiFi, this should happen automatically. You can also prompt the firmware update by opening the Wahoo App and selecting your trainer under the “Devices” tab.
Thank you so much for your patience, diligence, and passion for training with Wahoo! If you have any additional questions, please let me know. Cheers and happy riding
Thank you for this! Update received on my end
hope this fixes it!
Praise the baby Jesus… Wahoo has finally done something. ![]()
update, and then disconnect your trainer from the internet straight away so it can never happen again… manual updates only from now on (seriously they should at least give you the option to stop auto updates
) only for me and about 3 months after any update drops to make sure it doesnt break anything.
Got the email and manually updated via the app. Finger crossed ![]()
Me too, I received an email from wahoo. A new firmware version seems to be available now.
I understand that we are all frustrated about the problem, but to be honest things can happen and wahoo is at least a company which gets things done and not just ignores the problem… they provided honest feedback and a fix within 2 weeks time. I have already experienced much worse things with way bigger and very well known companies.
Installing update now.
It seems new behavior to now have had the option in the app to choose to apply the firmware or not. Like that’s the first time I’ve seen the dialog box at the top of the app with my v6. Is that actually new or is it just because I got in there before it auto-updated?
In any case, fingers crossed this fixes the issue and we’re rolling (haha) again.
