I’m not worked up about the fact that they shipped a bad update. The problem is that they did not offer a way to roll it back, or allow people to defer the update. This is really bad release management. Roll backs should be handled so easily that anyone can push a button to revert it. Users should have the option to hold off on an update if they don’t feel like it’s needed or not convenient to take the risk. It’s like they don’t think their product reliability matters to their customers. Having options like that takes the pressure off engineers so they can do their best work without long weekends of emergency work, plenty of time for testing, etc. Those are completely normal mature software release practices.
not me unfortunately. my support ticket advisor still has never even acknowledged there ever being an issue with the firmware, refused to downgrade my firmware and instead still right now is chasing me for a result for my 11min spin down test which i obviously never did as it would be a complete waste of time, just like his bluetooth disconnect ‘everything’ advise.
Much appreciated.
I had plans, but the Kickr needed to be updated ![]()
I refused to do the 11 minute ramp test and pointed them in the direction of this forum saying its clearly not a hardware issue, its your update
Seems to be working for me so far and my lights also went to sleep:) hooray
It looks like its safe now to update?
I updated yesterday and did not have a connection loss during yesterday’s ride.
Ive done three hours on the new firmware. No drops. its back to how it was before.
Also isolated it from the internet so its manual updates only from no on! ![]()
Hi folks,
I’m getting reports from some of my teammates that the problem seem solved for a while with firmware update but now has come back in the last couple of weeks. Is anyone else experiencing that?
Mine has not had a single drop since the firmware update after many many hours of riding. I consider it fixed
No issues since updating
Hi, I have started experiencing power cycling dropouts with Kickr V6 firmware 5.6.20
The problem has only arisen today - never had the dropouts on 5.6.13
All the symptoms are similar to previous reports.
I am about to update Wahoo about this.
Thanks, I’m told some additional folks have been experiencing this as well in the last few days (according to reports on ECRO racing discord). Please report back if you hear anything from Wahoo on it.
Wahoo would not confirm if any other customers had reported dropouts post V6 firmware 5.6.20 update. (I did not really expect them to)
They have asked me to follow problem definition 101 data gathering.
I will try one more race using the Kickr V6 and if the dropouts occur will swap out the Kickr for my JetBlack Victory.
I never had a dropout nor network glitches ever on my setup until 5.6.20 was installed - there is more to this problem than meets the eye.
I’ve lost any confidence I had in Wahoo’s ability to support the software customers are using - there is no ability to revert to a working version nor take any backup.
I’ve been having trouble in my ECRO races the last two days after just getting a new V6. My teammate has also had issues with his V6 and had to use his back Elite Suito.
I updated the firmware yesterday, set everything up and tried to race over Wi-Fi. It disconnected mid race… the next day (today) I tried racing through Bluetooth (I had been using a Kickr Core for like four years without a BT dropout with my current set up), and after 47kms, 3kms before the finish line, it disconnected. It reconnected quickly and then disconnected again.
Super frustrating. I’m not sure what the issue is. I’m doing the same thing I was doing with my Kickr Core for years and years, and now a new V6 is LESS reliable?!
Hopefully there’s a reliable fix soon.
Appreciate you reporting back! Sorry, you’re still having problems and Wahoo hasn’t been that helpful. Hope you find resolution soon.
I’m assuming your Kickr V6 is running firmware level 5.6.20 ?
Wahoo assured me they consider the dropout problem (of their own creation) has been fixed by 5.6.20
However, I had no dropouts until my V6 automatically updated to 5.6.20 - the problem was introduced by this update.
Yes, I’m on 5.6.20. So is my teammate.
Thanks Scott.
I have just updated the Wahoo support with the answers to their questions and also attached a copy of the Zwift log file containing today’s dropout/reset.
I’ll update here with any progress.
