Was just thinking the same. I’m high 50s level and with accelerated levelling, bonus XP and streak bonuses I’m moving through levels every 100km or so, actually maybe less.
It’s probably tuned for people like you; maybe no one thought about the experience for people like me.
(Admittedly, my first ride on this new system was the Tourmalet at 50%; 90 minutes for 35km or so isn’t the best for levelling)
You went from needing 30,000 XP per level to 5,200 XP (with discount) per level so between your double XP bonus and 1000XP per week from the streak bonus you will only need about 1600XP from distance bonuses per level until 60.
It seems like those at level 50 and above are still going to fly through levels up to 100. New riders will fly through the lower levels. And those of us in the 30-50 range that don’t get double XP will slog our way to 100 with the 20% level discount not coming close to matching our already earned excess XP for our current levels.
I think it’s even less as the streak bonus will be 2000xp per week (500 x 2 but then doubled)…so almost 40% of each level just in that.
Oh, wow. I didn’t realize they were giving double XP on that too…
This does seem strange to me. Why 2x for 50+ and only 1.2x for lower.
Levels 50-55 or so were 20,000XP wide, but so were most levels from about 36 onwards.
a 3 chevron wheelie, streak bonus and an average of 70km a day will do that #maths
Good question. I was level 49 when this change happened. Close to 50 now. Will I get doubled once I hit 50?
I feel like you’d need to be on the “old 50” before that happens - now around level 92 (~500,000 XP)
If my XP track does go from 1.2x to 2x in 4 levels time, I could live with that. But it seems unlikely.
It’d be nicer for the acceleration rate to increase with levels. 40-45 1.2x, 45-50 1.3x, 50-55 1.4x etc.
That would still be a very long time before I get to where I’ve already earnt the XP, but wouldn’t be as ghastly. I’d much rather be on 2x or more for the whole thing.
I doubt it, I’m on level 59 with 712000xp and am still only listed as 58 >> 99 (so no double xp). I think that only applies to those that were already subject to some prior acceleration program, i.e. those that hit level 50 before 50+ existed and those that hit level 60 before 60+ existed. I was just short of hitting those ceilings each time.
You’re probably right. Would be nice if this could be a little more straightforward, and better explained by ZHQ instead of Eric.
people who were stuck at level 50 before 51 to 60 existed got boosted from 50 to 60 when that was introduced. some people still haven’t finished being boosted for this so are getting their historic boost plus the new one.
Hmm, I’ve just done some rough calcuations to try and work out how long it’ll take me to get from my current level (40) to my level in the new system based on my current xp (72), considering my 20% discount on xp required.
Wow.
Considering I don’t do as many rides per week as I used to, it’s likely to take me literally years. I was not expecting that.
I suppose that makes sense up to a point, but they can just have 1.4x since that’s twice what the rest of us are on.
but the previous increase they were receiving was 2x XP - so they would have something taken away if that was done.
you just need to suck it up and ride more
As far as I can see, as a level 33 rider I’ll reach 50+ faster than I would have prior to this update. What’s not to like?
It’s the internet, people like to be annoyed!
Crazy idea…no acceleration. Obviously the cat is out the bag and it’s too late for that, but just make it a new race for all the level 60+ people to get more levels. They’re already reduced by 1/3 compared to before, no need to more than double the rate.
Crazier idea - let people choose!
levels 25 to 50 were introduced and you could pick if you were accelerated through the levels or you could work through them at normal pace.
every one was accelerated at the same pace that chose it and the ones that wanted to enjoy the levelling up could do so at the normal speed.
not to sure why that wasn’t an option this time?
but we are where we are, it isn’t going to change, people will unlock the things up to 60 quicker than they would have had this not been introduced and they will eventually get the stuff after that that they wouldn’t have if this wasn’t introduced.
maybe people should look at the positives and stop worrying what other people are doing?
you will get new stuff quicker regardless of what level you are or were.
this will fall on deaf ears but never mind.
Most importantly it’s stuff that most people will never use, until whatever the “special” unlock at level 100 is, maybe. TronTrial bike maybe? I was actually looking forward to working over the next couple of months to go from 49->50. Instead it’ll happen next time I get on the bike and I’ll just leave the firesocks unused until I’m back in shape.
Oh well
