Not necessarily related to your problem but unless you really need it, ensure you’ve disabled legacy ANT+ broadcasting in the Tacx Training app - which leaves only ANT+ FE-C. It helps to clean up the signal.
Same here, my HRM has started losing connection with ANT+ since the latest update, Bluetooth is still ok (and so is the HRM ANT+ connection for dual recording or RGT). It is frequent enough that even the – alone would have been impossible to miss.
Doesn’t matter how the pairing screen has always worked. When I get an error message and a blue box to click, I assume I should click that blue box and it will send me to some place where I can fix the problem. In my case, I had no pairing problem. My power, HRM, and RPM connections were working fine. Yet, it took me there and basically took me out of my ride. Anyone who rides hard, is half way done, and gets bumped from their workout will understandably be frustrated. This is a Zwift problem and it needs to be fixed. While I’m not a position to make a good diagnosis time, as a retired high level software troubleshooter, my best guess is a Zwift performance adjustment was made during the ride due to high usage and that was picked up by the new code as “connection lost”. Look more closely at why the position indicator changed to --. I’d suggest more Zwift programmers should be cyclists, so they can actually appreciate the effects of improperly coded software on riders. There are good, less expensive alternatives to Zwift.
Yep same here on iPad yesterday, warming up in the holding pen before a race and got the ‘lost connection’ message click the bar to see what it was but everything was connected and the wifi/broadband working fine. Race started but no rider position table came up, riders popped in and out for a while then it looks like I was thrown out of the race. Progress bar at the top had lead-in bar showing continuously but it never went into the actual race. Going to try again in a bit to see if happens again.
Ant+ on my PC has gone to pot since last update.
Sometimes doesn’t connect at all.
Sometimes lasts an hour then gradually loses connection at increasingly shorter intervals until it completely dies.
Bluetooth working fine.
Must have been a glitch, just finished a race and all went well.
When I pair the cadence on my trainers at the pairing screen upon boot up all appears good.
When I start running seconds later I get connection failure and have to repair the trainers. They work perfectly for the rest of the run.
Happens every time. A little annoying as each visit to the pairing screen adds 5 seconds to my minute/mile time.
See latest update notes, it has been removed
Thank you for your prompt response!
Hi, I resume this post because yesterday I did my second ride on my new Stages SB20 smart bike but using (for FIRST time) an Android tablet instead of my laptop.
I paired left crank as power+cadence, sb20 as controllable and of course I had my HR strap… all connected via BT (when using the laptop I was connecting via ANT+, which is not supported by my Android tablet)
When riding I had this “Connection disconnected” message, but all my sensor data was received by zwift… avatar was moving.
So, is it possible that this “Connection disconnected” refers to wifi connection? Or is it surely referred to a drop in power/cadence/HR data?
I had the same ‘connection disconnected’ message during a group ride tonight, but the avatar was moving, no drop outs, and everything (power, cadence, HR) was normal. The message appeared for say 10 sec, then it went away. The same happened maybe a few minutes later. ![]()
Would be interested to know if it’s a wifi issue, or due to recent upgrades.
I’m running iPhone 13, with kickr core 1.0.13 (downgraded due to continued resistance issues) and tickr x.
Ok, so I am even more convinced that the “connection disconnected” message was due to a drop (?) in wifi connection.
Today I will ride again, let’s see if the message show up again
FYI I am running Zwift on a generic (chinese) Android tablet, with Stages SB20
I’m getting suspicious that this is happening to me as well. iPhone companion to PC. Seems like Wi-Fi hiccups cause loss of connection now, which is surprising since I expected this was Bluetooth, but sounds like this is working as designed and I should be grumpy at my eero. It has gotten much worse in the past 10 days.
Hi all, here my update after 2nd ride with the tablet: I start to think that this message is a generic “something is disconnected” message, not related to a specific connection.
I try to explain better; while using Zwift we have different connections active:
- network connection: in my case wifi from tablet.
- “sensors” connection (HR, cadence, power, etc): in my case all BLE from the tablet to the trainer (SB20)
- (optional) zwift companion connection, which can be wifi only (if no sensors connection) or acting like a bridge (see “ANT+ and BLE Overview” page on zwift support, sorry but I cannot post links)
Stated this, in my first ride I think I got problem in “type 1” connection: all sensors were received (my avatar was moving), when clicking on the “connection disconnected” message nothing happened. Only difference was absence of other riders, when wifi come back all went back to normal
In yesterday’s ride I got problem in “type 2” connection: wifi was always OK but I had a drop in HR signal: when clicking on the “connection disconnected” message I was taken back to sensors pairing screen, re-paired HR and then all was OK.
With my current setup I don’t use zwift companion, so I don’t write about it. @Jeff_Dwyer : wre you using bluetooth for sensors connection, and wifi for network connection? (and zwift companion only as a monitor of your zwift ride, no sensors bridging?)
If I wrote anything wrong, please correct me! At least this is my understanding at now ![]()
I am having similar problems since latest upgrade. In a race last night “connection lost” after 20 minutes, all riders disappeared. That was with ANT+ and laptop. Tried again today using my iPad and bluetooth. Same issue, then eventually I stayed in the ride but 3 times a minute the power dropped to zero for a second then picked up. Made it impossible to stay with the group.
Tried a new ANT+ cable and dongle but same issue with the laptop, ie connection lost. Have also tried deleting zwift and reinstalling also rebooting the router.
I’ve never had this issue before in 18 months of pretty intense zwifting. Only had the problem since the latest upgrade.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
I have a same problem after last update. After 20 minutes, lost connection and cant connect again. I use Lenovo Y520 with ANT+. I deleted and reinstall the program but no results.
When I get connecting lost message and enter the pairing settings, the program lags. It cannot connect to any devices. When I go back to the menu the speed of the program is ok. But only connects after reboot. This is quite frustrating.
I deleted and reinstalled the ant usb driver. The first ride was fine, without error.
Thanks, I will try this
It’s annoying I had done half of mountain 8 climb came off to have a bite to eat went back on and re started the ride it said I still had the full 32km to go yet kept the climbing and distance I had already done. Ended up having to do a total of 42km instead of 32km and then it didn’t upload to strava either. And it only saved half the ride in my activities
This problem reared its ugly head again for me last night. I was ¾ of the way through an event ride when I lost connection with everything.
Went to the connections screen and everything was still connected and readings showing.
Back to the ride… Connection lost. Rinse and repeat 4 or 5 times until I disconnected everything and reconnected it. Then Zwift wouldn’t recognise my trainer as controllable! You can see the drop out point in the screen shot.
Direto XT-R, Elite Rizer, Garmin HRM-pro, Zwift running on Samsung Tab 5SE, everything on Ant+
