Companion app not allowing interaction

Hi all,
New to all this. I’m using Zwift on my iPad. I have an iPhone with the companion app installed. They both work fine with one exception.
When I’m doing a ride I don’t get the option to do anything on my companion app.
I can’t reach the iPad to type or interact and feel like I’m missing out.
The app shows the activity after the race or ride with all the stats but I can’t do anything with it during.
Is there any advice to resolve this?
Thanks in advance
Tim

Tim, are both the iPad and iPhone on the same WiFi network? In order for the companion app to work it needs to be on the exact same network (i.e. if you have a 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wifi even if they are the same name each device needs to be on the same band, both 2.4 or both 5).

Surely this is a matter of router configuration? My computer has a wired connection and the app works just fine (same subnet for all router lan interfaces).

Hi Daniel thanks for replying. My WiFi is a bit dodgy where the bike is so I normally use my phone as a hotspot. I assume this is the problem?
Thanks
Tim

Yeah, this doesn’t seem to work. If you have an old phone lying around, you could install the companion app on that one and connect it to the hotspot as well.

Ok that’s great thank you. I will give that a go.
cheers
Tim
