Good morning everyone, I would like to have two pieces of information: I bought the cog&click and I would like to know if I can use both 52/36 front chainrings; furthermore I would like to know if I can use only the click without the cog and with the use of the cassette sprockets
Thanks
Hi @Riccardo_SWATT welcome to Zwift forums.
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. Let’s step back a bit. The Cog has no electronics in it. The virtual shifting happens when you pair a Click controller to a smart trainer whose firmware supports Virtual Shifting. The list of supported trainers is here. I looked at your server logs and see you’re using an unsupported trainer. So there’s no guarantee that Click will work at all with your current setup.
Assuming you upgrade to a smart trainer that does support Virtual Shifting using the Click -
- Yes. You can start your ride on the big chainring, then mid-ride shift to the small ring to make use of the lower physical gearing.
- Yes, you can use Virtual Shifting with a cassette on the supported smart trainer.
Are you concerned about not having enough gear range when using virtual shifting? It’s a very broad gearing range. I’ve not heard too many complaints that people run out of gearing at either the top end or the low end.
