I’m sorry but I use Google Translate, I’m from Brazil and I don’t speak your language ok:
My questions: if I purchase the virtual COG, can it only be used on Zwift or can it be used on other Apps?
I think it’s Zwift only
Virtual shifting only works with Zwift, but you can put a Shimano compatible cassette on the trainer. You can use virtual shifting in Zwift with a normal cassette. Virtual shifting only works with these trainers: Zwift Hub, Wahoo Kickr Core, Kickr V6, Kickr MOVE. The Cog can be used with other apps if you use ERG mode only.
Ok, yes I understood, thank you for your answer, I have been using Zwift with the Shimano cassette for 1 year, I thought this virtual Cog was cool, I thought I could also put it to run on Rouvy, ok, thank you and sorry for using Google Translate.
Hi @Ronaldo_Russo, Welcome to the Zwift Forums!
Fernanda here, part of the support specialist team at Zwift.
I can understand your need to use the Zwift Cog international cassette in other Apps, however, just to reinforce the information provided currently the Zwift Cog is only compatible with the Zwift App. You can use it in other hardware (Zwift Hub, Wahoo Kickr Core Zwift One, Kickr Core V6) but currently, the software that allows virtual shifting with the Zwift Cog is the Zwift game.
If you need more information you can always check our useful article.
Ride On.
Ok ok, thank you very much Fernanda, I appreciate your explanations, I will continue with Zwift, I’m thinking about buying the COG, that was my question but you answered me, ok, thank you very much
Just to mention that indieVelo supports virtual shifting on my Zwift Hub One. Zwift Click doesn’t work but you can easily use some other device to change gears. I use a plugged in PS4 controller.
thank you for your answer
I view the indieVelo “virtual shifting” as base resistance
It was designed for 1x or MTB drivetrains
They have since added more range where you can essentially “shift” gears
Thanks for the tip!
Hey @Ronaldo_Russo, I’m Norman, also a Zwift Support colleague! Additionally from what was already mentioned, you can still have your trainer with the Zwift Cog and use it on other cycling apps.
The issue is that you wouldn’t to shift, but if you use the trainer on ERG Mode then it will work perfectly fine.
saudações ao Brasil!
