During a 100Km group ride this morning, there was a rider who seemed to have been able to take advantage of a glitch in the coffee break function. During two separate hill climbs, he pulled ahead of the group by several seconds and then activated the coffee break. There was no one in the group ride who was ahead of him to latch onto, so I assumed he just didn’t know how to use the coffee break. But to my surprise, instead, his avatar jumped further ahead and continued to gain distance from the group until he was 30 or more seconds ahead and out of sight. The first time, the group was able to catch him after his break expired. But the second time was near the end of the ride and there wasn’t enough time to bring him back. He ended up finishing second in the ride, 26 seconds ahead of the group he had been riding with. Sure, group rides aren’t races, but lots of riders treat them as such and its bad enough when riders abuse the breaks solely to finish in a higher position. But being able to use the coffee break independently to speed ahead of a group is an entirely different thing. If it’s a glitch or it’s being hacked, then Zwift should check into it and fix it.
