In the preview thing for Classic Run, it shows the route starts downtown near the beach area (whatever that’s officially called). When I start the route, I’m pretty far away from that point. this happens in several of the routes, at least for running, eg Volcano Circuit CCW).
Now that we are paying a lot for this app every month, can we get some better accuracy with these things? Kind of tough to decide on a route if you have little idea where the actual start is.
Running is free so the cost argument falls down

The “official” Classic Run is only 2.9 miles, the event version of it starts downtown with a 2.5 mile lead in, so you should start right near the entrance to Jarvis Island. I’ve only run the event version, so I’m not sure the exact spawn area.
Was the run (that you did) an event by any chance? As those will usually (almost always) begin at a set of start pens (downtown Watopia in this case) - so the event distance will also include whatever the lead in is (meaning they’d be ~3km left to complete a full lap of the Classic route).
This caught me out on the same route during the Tour of Watopia - though the following week I did a free run on the Classic Route and it spawned me just before the lap banner on Jarvis Island as expected.
