If they can polish the ATV app some more & also support my Garmin HR sensor, then I’d be a MyWhoosh regular.
MyWhoosh hardware requirements are too high, at least i7CPU. ATV has poor liquidity. Lack of dynamics in the game. A cyclist moves like a cardboard box. I don’t feel the speed. Racing is a comedy. The only option is training.
I tried to use my “free” 25 km yesterday on the Apple TV app to NO success. Every time I selected “explore” it just kicked me back to the home screen. I will give my android phone a go and see if I can use the free 25 km a month - Otherwise unfortunately given foreign exchanges rates I can’t justify subscribing to Zwift anymore and will attempt MyWhoosh as it now has an Apple TV active option - I had poor success with the android version last year and laughed it off - BUT now…
even if zwift lose around 25% of the current customer base they’ll still be making the money back from those that are staying
15 paying customers at the uk rate of £17.99 equated to around 21 paying customers at £12.99
Choose a ride from the Home Screen.
Explore brings you there by design.
I tried all sorts of options, but selecting a route gives me the “pop up” screen that gives subscribe or explore options only. I tried going via the workout and then route select also same pop up screen. I have done this before many times for the 25km but I must be missing something in the latest updates. I just couldn’t get to the actual world. I tested it on my android phone and I seemed to be able to get to the world and route even via the workout section. I must be missing something on the Apple to get beyond that screen of them wanting me to subscribe. Which at the moment through apple works at out 21.75 USD a month…
But thanks for the suggestion
I will fiddle more when under less time pressure to get a workout done…
I have tried on an iPhone also… there is no option to get to the ride only the subscribe or explore first…
I’ve been on MyWhoosh for 3 days now, using ATV. The riders are a bit wooden, the frame rate isn’t quite as good as zwift, and the messaging is not that great. It’s harder when riding solo - I seem to burn more calories there as the courses are mostly quite hilly and the trainer power curve is different e.g 10% is really hard at 50% trainer difficulty for example. However, I can live with all of that. My legs hurt just the same (more in fact!).
I don’t want to just sit here pi**ing on zwift for what they did so I’ll try and be constructive. I will miss Zwift and wish there was a lower monthly fee for fewer features. If they did that I would probably stay (depending on what I lost and how much it was of course). I typically used to group ride with Coco and do the odd solo route. I could live without workouts, racing, group events, some of the harder climbs (although I did do those routes sometimes) and climb portals. I could even do without some of the maps as I mostly rode Watopia unless Coco was on the 4km volcano flat loop, when I would switch to Coco on Makuri instead. Surely there’s an option there for a reduced fee with reduced features??? I guess the danger is everyone would switch to it resulting in a net loss.
I’m sure they thought carefully about their business plan. but they could make even more money by not letting their customers go. you just need to offer subscription packages.
Is it actually rideable scenery or just a background? We have no way of knowing.
I was quite surprised when I looked back to find that it’s now 18 months since the Urukazi expansion was added to Makuri. Scotland was launched a few months later, which was presumably being developed at the same time. And the Southern Coast arrived recently. But with the “This Season On Zwift” bumf only mentioning The Climb it looks like there’s no new roads coming to Makuri anytime soon.
18 months, that flew by !
Mt Fuji is just there to troll the climbers
Also makes me think of the Terry Pratchett Mt Fuji/ Tolkien quote.
Does make you wonder if the Makuri Island was a bit of a pet project and product champion left ?
The mt Fuji climb portal might be a way a seeing what interest there is before commiting resource to building a scenic’d road ?
I think the coast road feels a lot like a Makuri build, but tweaked to fit on Watopia.
I’ll have more Neokyo over mt Fuji tho, but then I’ve a soft spot for the New York map, well the ground level bit anyway !
Urukazi left me pretty underwhelmed - if you could design anywhere at all to cycle, why would part of it be some sort of industrial zone?!
Agree that there’s a lot of similarities between the coast road and Makuri.
Perhaps Zwift could free up some support and test cycles by retiring some worlds too - I’d really not miss Innsbruck or Richmond.
Many times?
You are entitled to one free trial.
I don’t know if you can qualify for any more free trials.
25km each month.
I have an i7, 4060 graphics , and it is amazing , surely no complaints
You get 25km “free” every month. Except it seems that the amazing Apple Corruporation has either arrived something up or not allowing the free 25km to be accessed. I also take offence to apple charging and extra 1.75 USD even taking exchange rates into account…
I am hoping mywhoosh works for me. I just need some structured training programs in ERG MODE . I really enjoyed my time on zwift. But I am no longer looking for the gamification aspect. Especially after I eventually got my Tron Bike
I have heard of erg issues on my whoosh
Havent had em, but the input lag is terrrible for me…
On zwift if i start peddling, max 2sec later it shows and the avatar responds accordingly. On mywhoosh this seems more near 5 sec…
Indievelo has similar(shorter) than zwift. Though havent tested ERG mode on that platform yet.
This disappointed me more than anything with the price increase. It was listed as taking effect on June 7th so that should have been true of the annual membership as well. I went back and forth with customer support about this and they were not budging. I thought that it was shortsighted of Zwift. They could have come up with a coupon code for loyal members to lower the new rate to the old rate. This seemed beyond them - at least to the person that was ‘supporting’ me.
Erg on iV is really nice. Much smoother transitions between intervals. Plus has anti spiral of doom feature.
