Apologies, but a newby question here. I have just joined Zwift and on the initial set-up selected the wrong “dumb” turbo I am using.
I can’t find a way of changing it to the correct make - does anyone know how to do this?
Also, same for tyre size which I got wrong at initial set-up. Can’t see a way to change any of the equipment specified in the original set-up.
Apart from that all good!
Thanks
Peter, I have exactly the same problem with the trainer selected and can’t find a solution anywhere. Spent aged on Google and still no joy.
Hi Peter. I’ve just been playing about with my PC.
I deleted my Garmin Speed Sensor via the Config Exe file in Zwift. It’s right at the top of the text.
I then went into my Garmin companion after switching on my Bluetooth.
Ran Zwift on my Laptop and it only showed my Cadence sensor was connected. Click on ok to connect a Speed Sensor, you should then be able to change tyre size, then connect to your speed sensor, once this has connected it takes you to the next screen which was where you select your trainer. Bingo worked for me.
Hope that isn’t too confusing.
Thank you Phill for responding. I managed to change the selected “dumb” turbo and am embarrassed to say how easy it was in the end! When starting a ride I unpaired my Garmin sped and cadence sensors. Then was able to re-pair and select a turbo again (choosing the right one this time).
All the best,
Peter
Glad to hear it Peter and yes spot on delete the sensors and bingo.
My cadence sensor is almost spot on but the speed sensor not to accurate, loose loads uphill but gain a bit down and overall my Garmin which is much more accurate on the sensors than Zwift seems to cover a touch more mileage.
Happy Zwifting mate and I may see you out there sometime.

Hi guys, the Garmin bike computer will hardly ever match up to Zwift. Zwift is a virtual world, obviously, with hills and drafting and powerups that all change your virtual speed. The Garmin doesn’t get any of this info, it just knows the speed of your wheel.
Really need to make this a sticky:
Zwift takes the wheel speed broadcast by your speed sensor and the power curve of the trainer you select on the Pairing Screen and converts that to virtual watts. With those watts, the weight entered, height entered, in-game bike used, in-game drafting (Tri and TT bikes get no drafting boost), in-game wheel set, in-game road surface, and in-game virtual elevation changes your in-game speed is determined.
Hey no issues with me. I’m just enjoying using the “game” . Means I can continue with my training and it beats staring at the dinning room door.
What I loose on the straights, I gain on the roundabouts, so all good with me. Plus I have a very basic wheel on trainer and just used the advice from Zwift to hope I have selected the correct one. Elite Super Crono Mag Speed.

Just want to thank you guys for posting this thread, it’s been bugging me for a few days now how to change the type of turbo trainer.
Happy days, thanks
Thanks for your response. I get even more frustrated by answers that have nothing to do with my request for help. I can’t find anyway to update my trainer!,
Hi @Lisa_Tessier, welcome to the forums! Are you trying to update your trainers firmware? What trainer do you use?
