That’s great to hear @evan-zwift .
I’ve asked a few times for this since 2022. For me, the shake actually makes me nauseous, and I’m not usually sensitive that way. I actively avoid the Jungle, some areas of Makuri and was very disappointed when it appeared in the new Watopia coastline extension.
Apart from anything else, the visual designers have put a lot of effort into the modelling, which I personally like to look at while I ride, and it’s basically spoiled by the shake, which doesn’t reflect any sort of real-world equivalent anyway, thanks to the magic of the vestibulo-ocular reflex.
I used to work in VR simulation. One key lesson that we learned was that the brain is happy with unrealism or hyper-realism, but don’t try to mess with things that the cerebellum does from a visuals manipulation perspective - that was the best way to make people unwell.
One more vote for this feature!
Patched. Thank you for this @oldnapalm
It transforms my Zwift experience.
I rode up the new route ’ Navig8’ to the top of the Mayan Mt.
please please let us turn off the shake over the tiles.
I had to switch to helicopter view as I just couldn’t follow on the rider.
Another vote from me. I recently changed to a Windows PC set-up, previously Android. Can’t say I noticed it on Android but definitely do now!
+1 Never had any issues with camera shake in anything but when i started doing Zwift for the first time this week the shaking made me naucious.
Just to share some positive feedback, because I know it can help with decisions.
I’ve been regularly applying @oldnapalm patch for camera shake every update and it has transformed the enjoyment that I get from Zwift.
I am riding more regularly in the worlds again. I enjoy the detail of the Jungle, Aztec ruins and Markuri island trails because I’m not dealing with the awful shaking screen.
I realise that most people do not Zwift on a 42" TV, and that this is almost certainly more of an issue for large screens, but I enjoy escaping in to Zwift to ride around the worlds and I really do enjoy the experience more with screen shake disabled.
The shaking on the bridges on the new Jarvis Island really needs to be toned down. It’s way too extreme.
It’s like that everywhere. Zwift needs to kill the “feature”. People that hate it, hate it, and people that don’t notice it, won’t notice.
Spot on. It s garbage, first person is even worse.
Thanks for fixing this in the last update.
Not been zwifting as it’s summer in Oz, but spotted it today and wanted to acknowledge that you listened to the community and addressed the feature request, which is appreciated.
Hi folks, I realized I forgot to post back here –
As of Zwift game version 1.80.0, Screen Shake can now be enabled/disabled in Zwift Settings under the Audio & Video tab.
Thank you all for the feedback on this.
Thanks Evan! I appreciate you listening to the community and considering requests.
I was scouting the ZG25 Queen route today noticed screen shake on the climbs. I checked that I have the screen shake setting turned off. It is off. What might be causing this for me? I have the latest version. I’m on a Macbook Pro M4 Max w/64GB RAM using UHD screen resolution. I did record
I see this on steep grades with slow speeds as well. It’s really noticeable when you’re in a group ride or meetup where there’s a leader beacon doing the shaking.
@Steve_Clogg_PACK has spoken about this before
I don’t think it’s related to the screen shake feature since it happens on surfaces where that wouldn’t be active.
Thanks for the reply, Paul. At least it’s not a setting I overlooked. It is annoying and almost unwatchable on my laptop’s external monitor. I can feel the eye twitch.
Lets hope they fix it but this bug is 8 years old, it was just assumed to be a gravel road effect on the Tower climb but its on all steep slopes on any surface.
It’s been acknowledged as a bug
If you pair the Play Controllers, the view resets to a more zoomed out FOV and it fixes the shake on all steep slopes.
Not a great ‘fix’ but it explains why some riders did not see the issue.
