Zwift Launcher for macOS 1.1.13 (1) no longer remembers my login, requiring me to re-enter it every time I open the app. This was also a problem on 1.1.12 (1).
I updated the app today and the problem persists.
I threw the app in the trash, emptied it, downloaded a new copy and installed it and the problem persists.
Are you sure you haven’t pinned ZwiftApp or ZwiftAppSilicon to the macOS dock? I ask because if you did that, you would see exactly what you describe. This is a common problem because once the app is running if you set it to stay in the dock you will never run the launcher. If that’s what happened you need to make sure that /Applications/Zwift.app is the thing that you have added to the dock.
I made a shortcut to that and put it on my Desktop. That always runs the launcher.
I have not had an issue with my MacMini M2 not remembering my username and password.
Hi
You could try to remove anything Zwift related from ~/Library after uninstalling Zwift and before reinstalling. I don’t remember the exact file(s) but that fixed it for me a while back.
Best regards,
Magnus
The (1) indicates you probably have two instances of ZwiftLauncher v 1.1.13 in the same folder location. If there are two, that’s contributing to the problem. As Paul suggested upstream, doing a clean re-installation would be a good first step.
The thing you want pinned to your desktop is a shortcut to ZwiftLauncher. Always use the Launcher app to start your session, not ZwiftApp. Please confirm which shortcut is pinned to your Mac Dock?
Thanks Shuji. Just to make sure everything in this topic is fully addressed: There is, in fact, NOT multiple instances of ZwiftLauncher on my machine in any folder. As far as I can tell, there are zero copies as the only Zwift app in my /Applications folder is Zwift.app.
I’m going through the full deep-clean reinstall now and will report back with more details.
The launcher also uses Safari so I guess it’s possible that clearing out saved data from Safari could help. I don’t say that with much confidence but it is another moving part in this system.
More updates: I’ve migrated my user to an entirely different hard drive and forced Zwift to again, rebuild the ~/Library/Application Support/Zwift and ~/Documents/Zwift folder and still it does not remember my login.
One of the other user accounts on the same system DOES remember the login so I’m at a loss. What obscure file have we missed on the system that needs to get squashed?
I love Zwift, it is great and I use it often. But please disable the repeated nagging of re-entering a password (on MacOS in my case). That’s just not necessary, thank you for disabling that, or for adding a tick box “remember me forever”.
I have had this happen on both MacOS and Windows at least once per month for years now (across different machines too, and yes I am using the launcher). Really annoying, but at least I my long alphabet soup password stuck to my memory already years ago.
Each time I launch Zwift on my Mac, it opens up the Terminal app and asks for my password before the game starts.
After entering the password, Zwift loads up normally and everything works fine — but this extra step is annoying and wasn’t happening before.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there a way to stop Zwift from triggering Terminal?
