Bluetooth Woes

For 2 years my Apple TV/Kickr Core Bluetooth set up has been rock solid but just in the last couple of weeks my connections/resistance have been all over the place. I’ve not seen many comments about connection issues after the recent upgrades to Zwift so it may well be my very own problem! I have deleted and reinstalled the Zwift app on ATV. Usual story of pedalling like a wee demon and producing 20 watts (low, even for me). Sometimes everything would seem to start OK but then the resistance would drop to zero. I am pretty sure the Kickr is OK since everything seems fine running on the Wahoo app and an ERG run is giving the appropriate resistance - I forget the sensors when i finish this test. My suspicion is that there is some device in the house that has suddenly become a malevolent Bluetooth force but I am unable to track it down. I’ve been going round in circles trying to identify it. I connected to my Samsung S7 tablet and that seemed to have issues though after a while it seemed to sort itself and give the appropriate ride experience. I even arrived at a point today where the S7 screen and the ATV screen were both showing me cycling in different places- The watts and cadence were the same on each screen but the HRM was only on the Samsung - is this number of connections possible with Bluetooth? any step by step approaches to getting to the root of these issues would be much appreciated. Do I need to switch every BT device in the house of and start from there? (PS old guy who struggles a bit with the tech)

Hi @Jim_Aiton

Hi @Jim_Aiton

Welcome back to the forums! As Gerrie pointed out, there are multiple things that can interfere with the Bluetooth signal and cause issues like you described. One thing that stands out to me, that you mentioned,

Having Zwift running on multiple devices at the same time can cause numerous amounts of issues, not just with pairing, but with saving the ride, fit file corruption, lost XP to name a few. Try only running Zwift on one device, pairing your trainer only to that device and see if that helps. If it doesn’t reach out to our support team

Thanks John. I will keep at it. The only reason I used the samsung as an alternative to Apple TV was to establish whether the issue was with Apple Tv, the Kickr or Zwift. All 3 seem to be working, but not together!!!. i have not changed anything in my setup for 2 years, yet it suddenly started behaving in this strange manner over the last 2 weeks. I am finding it difficult to determine which Bluetooth devices are competing for the kickr signal but I will persevere. Time for the tin foil hats I think
