When I select a route to ride Zwift will load it up and I can ride for a while. But, at some point during the ride it will turn me off in a direction that has nothing to do with what a selected and close down the route I chose. I have been on Zwift using the same laptop, used exclusively for Zwift for over 2 years now. This has just started happening recently. The last two routes it happened on were Sugar Cookie and The Big Ring.
Hmm, being on for over 2 years I’m assuming you are above level 10, which is required for access to the coast road…
Do you have a Sterzo paired? If so look for the intersection controls in settings so you don’t make an unintentional turn.
Level 50. Not making turns, but do have sterzo. Zwift forces you off to another route. The route name and progress goes away and the progress turns orange. And, I don’t think the orange bar measures any additional progress but Zwift does record it on the top line. And when you stop and save it says you were on the route (at least at one time)
I will go and check Sterzo controls. Not sure I knew there was anything but alignment, but keep in mind that in the past I have never had a problem like this. The companion locking up every 5 minutes is a real pain in the butt. The strange KOMs and Sprints showing up out of context is just an aggravation because I know they aren’t going to appear out of nowhere. Oh I probably didn’t mention that in my email.

Going off route is very likely related to the Sterzo. You can test by not pairing the Sterzo.
Intersection Controls setting became available in game version 1.58. Flip that setting and see if it helps.
Companion locking up is probably unrelated. Most likely poor WiFi performance. For me Companion is 100% reliable but my home network is solid.
I will check the setting. I have Gig internet up and down and 300 to 400 MBS WiFi house wide. I am pretty sure WiFI is not the issue. It never has been. All of my issues have just popped up over the 30 days or so. Thanks for helping. I will keep you posted.
The WiFi stability you care about is entirely local - unrelated to your Internet access. Purely the connection between the device running Companion and the device running Zwift. Could also be other causes but something about the local network is most commonly the issue. Some mesh WiFi networks can cause problems, and sometimes you just need to reboot all the network equipment.
I will take a shot at it. But my phone which is what I use for Companion is on my wireless all the time and handles internet, mail, messaging and a host of other apps without a flaw. Not sure why Companion would be any different. Easy enough to reboot it though. BTW phone is only connected to WIFI in the house, not global data
I turned intersection controls off, I will let you know how that works. I will also reboot the WiFi network, although I will be surprised if that is the problem.
Paul, Thanks for your help. Changing the setting seemed to work. I am still being careful about the turns though. I turned notifications off and the problem with Companion went away. Not sure what that is about, but since I am no longer aggravated by it and I really don’t care that much about notifications, I am fine with it. Still don’t know what is causing KOMs and Sprints to come up that are related to the route I am on, but I have been on Zwift long enough to know which ones and real and which ones aren’t. I have heard of other people having the problem as well. Again, thanks for hanging in there with me. BTW, my home network is rock solid. I have 5 tv’s, 3 computers, phone and a bunch of other stuff running on my wireless which general is over 250 mbs even out in my garage. Runs a consistent 400+ in the house.
