Avatar is not moving in zwift

Hello, I am brand new to Zwift!

I have a Kickr Core A Every time I open the Zwift app and load in, the trainer connects via bluetooth as the power source and I see that the cadence and controllable also connect and all say Kickr Core. My problem is that when I choose a ride, no matter how hard I pedal, my avatar just won’t move.

I’ve also downloaded the wahoo app. The trainer connects via bluetooth and it performed a spindown test.

Please help. I just got Zwift and I really want to ride!!

Do you see any Watts on the HUD or on the pairing screen when you pedal?

Dear Paul,

No i see any data changing while i pedal. My avatar is standing still without doing anything.

First close Zwift, completely exit the program.

Check for firmware updates too in the wahoo app, then close it and make sure it is fully closed (not open in the background) as it could be stealing the signal from Zwift. The Kickr Core should have auto-calibration now, so you won’t need to do a spindown.

Then open Zwift and let it reconnect everything. Let us know if that helps.

Hi @wesley_verschuren welcome to Zwift forums and Zwift more generally.

Shuji at Zwift HQ here. I work here so I can see your server log history. The main issue I see is that you’ve only had one time when your KICKR Core is paired to the game.

The other times - I’m guessing you may have paired to your Samsung tablet like Bluetooth earbuds? You don’t want to do that - go into the OS Settings and “forget” the Bluetooth connection if it’s paired that way.

I see you were able to pair your Zwift Click controllers. It’s important to update the Click firmware (instructions here) using the Zwift Companion app. Please do this first, then next time you log in, pair your trainer and Click in this sequence (left to right, top to bottom):

  1. Power: Always over Bluetooth, and this must be first.
  2. Resistance: Expect a ~10 second delay before the signal “advertises.” This lag is normal and expected.
  3. Cadence: Again, over Bluetooth.
  4. Controls: Pair the Click controllers. You should see a battery life indicator when this is ready.
  5. Heart Rate Monitor (if using).:
Once all the things are paired, you should be able to drop into a world, start pedaling, and your avatar should start moving. More details on connecting your devices on this article.

If not - it may be because your Functional Threshold Power is still not set (it’s zero at the moment). You can manually set your FTP to a moderate number like 100 to start out Here’s how to manually set your FTP. That article will tell you more about what FTP is.

Let us know either way if that get you moving, won’t you? TIA.
