Autosave + Load

Hi everyone. Has anyone ever asked if it’s possible to add AUTOSAVE ( lets say every 5k or 5 min) and LOAD options?
over the last few years I had the pleasure to experience a few ZWIFT freezes, which will require exit and restart. In this way it will save a lot of real tears and will give us ( the riders ) a possibility to continiue what these days will be a lost ride/effort.

It depends on what operating system you’re using.
Windows saves every 10 minutes to a .fit file

Android will try and restore your session when you log back in… with mixed success.

I wish ZWIFT make it possible to load the ride I’ve lost so i can continiue with my ride ( after restart ) not just recover the fit file.

The issue with that is it’s open for abuse for people who could use that option to achieve the badges for the longer routes over several sessions.

You could say this is a good thing as its inclusive for those who can’t ride for extensive periods of time but then it devalues the achievement of those who have spent 6hrs in one ride to achieve a badge.

and at the same time I’m trying to " build " a Snowman now 4 times in a row and 4k is the closest I’ve been to the end before it freezes.

If it’s crashed at the same point 4 times in a row there’s clearly something at that point that your hardware cannot cope with.

There’s no reports of similar issues that i can find.

What’s your hardware/software setup?

Dell laptop,AMD Ryzen 5 7530U with Radeon Graphics 2.00 GHz, RAM 8.00 GB, Windows 11, uninstalled Onedrive, just Windows Def, all Shots disabled, game graf reduced to 720. But it is not the same place, more like similar (around 90 min) time. On occasional update this 90 min issue appears on other routes/maps. But that takes me away from the idea of Autosave and Load. If the badge abuse is the problem, don’t award any to ride that has been reloaded. I don’t ride for the badges, i do it because i like it and enjoy it. I don’t think you can compare the feeling of a climbed hill with a badge, or the dissappointment of a game crash just after a hard climb before your well deserved downhill.

This is the underlying problem you are having

Paul has probably solved it as per the link to the issue with AMD at the moment. My other suggestion would be the laptop may be overheating. 90 mins is a long time for a laptop running Zwift which is notoriously tough on GPU’s.

But like I say it’s more likely to be the AMD issue.
