Yep, same problem here. watch says pairing, in game, then not pairing then stuck on pairing but not reaching game.
Me too. Please fix it Zwift.
Iām having the same problem. Iāve been trying for nearly an hour today and ruined my weekend morning time.
Tried using Heart Cast and Echo as heart rate tracking alternatives to the companion app, but they didnāt work out.
Tried using just my iPhone for Zwift in hopes of pairing my Apple Watch to it. That approach didnāt work out.
In all, spent around 2.5 hours trying to resolve the lack of Apple Watch integration to Zwift. I really love the Zwift product and hope their product team is on top of this ongoing issue affecting a large portion of their fans.
Same here, it was always a bit finicky but worked usually after 1 or close and reopens of the watch app in the end. Someone must have commented a part of old code or something, the watch shows in game but doesnāt show up in the zwift app, sometimes it shows up in the pairing screen with no signal. Funilly enough the watch stays connected the whole time.
āIt was never supportedā is a bit of a cop out, this feature worked for years and after announcing that it will now be officially supported you literally did the opposite and broke it
After updating, my Apple Watch also wonāt link up with Zwift anymore. This is beyond frustrating! Can you please sort this out?
Not a happy customer atm Zwift. You broke the Apple Watch heart rate. Why is it still not supported officially is beyond me, but for the money I am paying Zwift, this is a joke.
Get with it, and sort this out.
My only get around for this was to turn off the campion app in both the phone and watch then download Zwift onto my phone and activate the Zwift (not companion) app on my watch. My watch then connected to Zwift on my phone. It would not connect to the ipad only the phone. So only get around was to do my training session on the small phone screen⦠Better than no heart rate at all!
Been zwifting since September 2021 and always used my Apple Watch to measure HR without issue. Update on Thursday put an end to that! Very frustrated after spending quite a while trying to resolve it. A relief to hear itās not just me. I hope a fix can be found.
I have the same issue. Moved over to Apple Watch about 18 months ago because my Wahoo Tickr was too unreliable for racing on Zwift. Although Iāve always had to cross my fingers a bit with the watch, at least it workedā¦until now. Trying pairing through the companion app and nothingā¦. Not ideal 15 minutes before a race
Dropping support makes no business sense. If itās because they think itās rocket science and too hard, well that is a reflection on the skills of their development team (or lack thereof).
Exactly the same problem. Worked great before update. Tried on iPad/PC. Neither work.
Wasted hours uninstall/reinstall. Very annoying. Canāt get ANT to work either.
I had same experiance and was able to finally use the Zwift app on Iphone and it worked. But it is way hosed up on Companion App on Iphone to try and use Zwift on Ipad.
Also switched from Wahoo Tickr to Apple Watch because Tickr was way too unreliable. Just tried using old Tickr after Zwift broke the Apple Watch pairing. Tickr pairs but wonāt record a heart rate. Isnāt technology wonderful.
Dreadful
I deleted the watch companion app and tried both HeartCast and ECHO- neither worked for me. Iām going to use my arm based HRM and just manually start an indoor cycling session on the watch until they get this resolved. $100+ per year subscriptions = we should not be having these issues with our top end devices!
On a side note- If anyone has a gen 1 Garmin TacX Neo Smart Bike- I got steering to work by installing the beta firmware update. If anyone needs assistance with this let me know.
Ride/Run on!
Just received this response from support:
Hi Dave,
Apple Watch
My name is Alex and I am an experienced user of Zwift. I will try to help you based on my experience with the platform but note that I am not able to access your account or Zwift systems. If required, I will escalate your enquiry to the main Support Team who can provide support with system access.
We have been informed by the Zwift Support Team that at the moment the support for the Apple Watch has been removed due to frequent connection issues. Zwift is looking to reintroduce that early this year but have not provided a date for when it will be available again. There has not been any formal announcement regarding this issue.
I understand that this may not be what you are looking to hear but at this time the only suggestion I have is to use another Heart Rate Monitor (Garmin, Polar, etc.) to be able to get your heart rate readings on Zwift.
Thank you for allowing me to assist you today. If you could let us know if we have answered your question or if there is something else we can assist you with?
Thanks,
Alex
By the number of responses in this thread already, it is pretty obvious that while the setup before the latest update was far from perfect, many of us were able to make it work. I am very glad that they are working on a better solution but completely removing it without including even a reference in the release notes and hoping nobody will notice is a very poor practice at best. By the way, heart rate tracking is far more important to me than being able to customize Avatars.
If they are starting to add new code for the new functionality, they can use the well proven concept of flags to leave the old code working and have the new code inactive. Then, when the feature is complete, they just swap the flags (or they can do pilots by progressively changing users from one to the other).
I hope Zwift can reverse the change and find other ways to achieve the shared objective of having a reliable way to connect Apple Watch to Zwift.
Same here. The echo and heart cast solution did not work for me either. Going to try deleting everything and giving another go with my phone screen
For all those that are saying that Zwift has removed the functionality to connect, I just wanted to share that the Apple Watch is detected properly during the connection process. It even shows (on my iPad Zwift app) the accurate heart rate. It is only when you choose it that nothing happens. So, if they can read the heart rate when connecting, why cannot they hold the connection? This seems more a bug linked to something else they changed than a deliberate effort to break it.
