Any Van Rysel D100 turbo racers here?

Unbelievably, after working fine in last Saturday’s Tiny Races, my Saris H3 suddenly stopped giving any resistance towards the end of a ~40min cool down. In top gear, 50/11, I now get a whopping ~85W according to my 4iiii crank power meter. No bootloader shows in the Saris app, it’s effectively dead, Jim…

My OG Elite Direto has the opposite problem, it needs 150W+ to keep the flywheel turning and that’s at a silly low cadence in easiest 34/34 gear.

I need a new turbo.

I’m not a gifted sprinter and on the D/E pen border these days, ~600W for 15secs, ~800W for 5secs on a good day.

D100 limited to 600W, I can get cadence off the 4iiii as D100 unbelievably doesn’t have a working cadence sensor, only 6% max gradient simulation. No ANT+ either.

But the D100 option that doesn’t come with Zwift Click V2 can be bought for £200 and Blue Light Card gives 15% at Decathlon.

Less than half the price of the feature rich Jetblack Victory.

Anyone got anything good or bad to report from their D100 experience?

If you’re in the UK, I would talk to this guy: https://www.theturbotrainerdoctor.com/

I wonder if the Direto just needs the motor screw cleaned and lubricated, or bearings replaced.

Both of your faulty trainers are far better equipment than a D100. Your power seems good enough that I wouldn’t want to throw it away if you’re racing.

Thanks for link, something to ponder.

I tried cleaning the Direto magnet screw and relubing it last night, didn’t help. Might try adjusting belt tension and seeing what happens, I replaced the belt ~4 years ago. I set it up for the first time in ~3.5 years on Monday when the Saris wouldn’t turn on, ordered a replacement power supply which gave solid red light but no bootloader in app.

There was a code to get a Kicker Core 2 for ~£400, I was nearly tempted to risk a Thinkrider XXPro from AliExpress for ~200, but I think I’m going to pull the trigger on a Jetblack Victory for £400. Even though I’ve also seen Saris H3 on Tredz for £280…

Just need to quickly make a decision, it’s prime turbo season!

One of the appeals of the D100 was in theory, I could go and pick one up today.
