Allow Club Owners to Upload a Custom Cover Image in the Zwift Companion Mobile App

Hello Zwift team,

I am a moderator of the TEZH Racing club, which currently has more than 1,300 members.

Our current large club cover image is quite old and no longer represents the identity and current appearance of our team.

As a moderator, I do not have an “Edit Club” option for changing the club appearance. The club owner has also checked the available settings in Zwift Companion and has confirmed that he can only select from the standard images provided by Zwift. There is no option to upload a custom club cover image.

We would like to replace it with this new TEZH Racing image:

Could Zwift please allow club owners to upload a custom large club image or club header?

This could include reasonable requirements such as:

  • A recommended image size and aspect ratio.
  • A maximum file size.
  • Moderation or approval before publication.
  • Rules preventing inappropriate or copyrighted content.

Custom club images would help established clubs maintain their identity and make their Companion club page look current and professional.

Is there currently any alternative method to request a custom club image through Zwift Support? If not, please consider adding this feature to Zwift Companion.

Thank you.

Jordi Riu
TEZH Racing moderator

How about no AI images?

Images should be either screenshots from Zwift or photos of your club rides IRL?

The current default images are simpler and easier for everyone and follow the Zwift brand, where user uploaded ones may not.

I prefer the current way with default images.

Hi Chris, I understand your point, and I also agree that images unrelated to the club should not be allowed.

In our case, the image does not use an invented design. It shows the real TEZH Racing kit, with our actual colours, logo and Spanish flag, just as it appears in Zwift. AI was only used to create a more representative group image of the team.

My proposal is not to remove Zwift’s current default images, but to keep them and also give club owners the option to upload their own cover image, with clear rules and moderation. These could include Zwift screenshots, real-life group photos, or images directly related to the club’s identity.

Anyone who prefers the current default images could continue using them, while clubs that want to personalise their page would have that possibility. I believe both options could work perfectly well together.

Have you emailed Leah to ask for this?

Hi James,
No, I haven’t emailed Leah yet. Could you please tell me the best way to contact her or share her email address?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Jordi

If you contact the events team by emailing events@zwift.com she’ll be able to reply.

She is in France at the TDFFaZ at the moment but she’ll be able to reply when she gets back.

I don’t understand why you would post here without asking us first.

Is this not a feature request that any club owner would be able to take advantage of? I assume there are many small clubs that never deal with the events team.

The majority of art requests (headers, jerseys etc) comes through our team.

I’m sure that’s true for the large clubs, but the feature request is to be able for Club owners to be able upload their own custom image thru the CA. Most tiny private club owners only ever setup their events and customize their club details in the CA (including selecting an image for the club or an event).

It’s a perfectly reasonable feature request, but a club with 1300+ members that puts on events should absolutely have a relationship with the events team. There are scores of event configuration options that the club will likely need that cannot be managed by the club. The events team does a lot to support clubs of all sizes, they are very responsive, and there’s no way to run a club in a serious way without talking to the events team. I wouldn’t call this particular feature request a high priority compared to everything else that clubs need but can’t do without assistance. Rather than an indefinite wait for feature development, the immediate solution is to ask for help.

Perhaps, though I can’t imagine Zwift themselves would want the thousands of tiny clubs (eg. many less than a dozen members) putting in email requests, or why this request was read as specific to 1000+ member clubs only.
Instead, rather, forward on this post to whoever at Zwift is tasked with Club development (if there is someone, as there hasn’t been any engagement on Club feature development now in years(?)). Alternatively, send along to the CApp developers if that makes more sense.

The attitude of any club should be to ask for whatever they need and if Zwift decides that they’re doing too much manual work then they put more priority into developing the automated features. That is their choice whether to do that or not. As a customer running a club your choice is to try to get what you need to succeed and let Zwift worry about the business side of things. There are many many club features that I would love to see, and until that work happens I will keep asking the events team, and they’re doing a good job at that, though it is perhaps like mopping the floors. I consider that not my problem to solve.

Fair enough, but I guess in my long-winded way, I’m saying the Feature Requests part of this forum, is a place where, well, you can request features and I don’t think it was an inapropos request of the OP.

Speaking of the building out more automation/customization, and since @James_Zwift is more engaged in the forums these days, can we find out perhaps where/if any of the discussion in the “Clubs Dead in the Water” thread led to? Eg.

The feature request is in no way inappropriate. I support it. If it ever comes it will be most welcome.

Yep, totally fair point and I hadn’t noticed where this had been posted, my main concern was that I think we can probably support this in a manual way (rather than self serve)

Which is a shame that… we cannot, and just puts bigger load onto support.

It should be noted that it’s not exactly difficult either to have an active club and literally not only not be aware of the events team even exists.

Even I have input my email as being a main contact on a club in request forms that are sent to the club leader for things like image and kit updates; and never manage to still never be contacted, but instead everything continues to go through someone else.
Which I’d argue … is a problem if someone is putting in information to be THE contact for those things.
