Zwift has been around for 10 years. So how many of us from closed beta at Jarvis Island are still around and active in the community?
I will reach 10 years this 24th November but it still felt like yesterday looking back at Scott Barger’s email of invitation. The experience has been a roller coaster and the community we have built together is still the gold standard amongst virtual apps today.
10 years ago I couldn’t stand to spend 20 minutes on an indoor trainer even when the air quality index was 300+ but now I’m standing on the shoulders of giants
just over 5, but i get my money’s worth for sure. i’m not even particularly old and even i remember sitting on a fluid trainer outside in the snow watching 240p youtube videos of contador on youtube… i appreciate zwift
Jan 2017.
Never rode Jarvis and never saw a blue robot.
Ocean Blvd was still new.
Richmond and London were there but I think saw New York as a new expansion.
Back then it was a lot harder trying to get info on Zwift and how to Zwift.
A lot of blind exploring that would not be tolerated today.
I joined in January 2017 also, shortly after the iOS version was released.
London had not been expanded yet.
I had looked into Zwift much earlier, but I didn’t have a portable computer to use with it. So, when the iOS version launched, I was in.
Jarvis vet here, approaching 10 years but spend far more time on an alternative platform. Had lots of great experiences but started riding less when I saw how well a competitor executed on drafting/pack dynamics and a customizable HUD. On that latter point, I dug up an old exchange from eight and a half years ago here on the forum that I had with Jon Mayfield about customizable fields for the UI. Maybe that will see the light of day in September?
