My HR monitor did not work for this race. May I be granted my rightful 3rd place ranking? I took 3rd but was given the “HR” rating due to no HR data. You can view my activities and verify that my Wattage is within my capabilities and I did not cheat.
Since it’s got the wrong rules in place, is not referenced by the race description as being in play, and is missing a number of entered riders in the results, then I’d say it’s not the right place. Or, use Zwiftpower, but click on this tab instead (all is fixed )
The short answer is No. The rules are there for a reason and a decent HRM goes for at least a year faultlessly until it needs a battery change. Its the riders responsibility for their gear, if your unlucky even you bike can develop a problem that causes you to have to quit the ride. Went past a couple of people on the long group ride the other day that were stationary and a few pulled out.
The longer answer is maybe. It’s entirely up to the discretion of the event organizer and changes like that are not uncommon. In this case the organizer is Zwift so you have to speak to them directly to find out their decision. Nobody else can say what the decision will be.
Did you read the race description? Heart Race monitor was only required for Advanced (650+ Racing Score). Event was evidently set up wrong in Zwiftpower, which these days is a complete afterthought.
A fully functional HRM should be required regardless if you want a result in ZwiftPower.
There is enough cheating going on as it is. It wouldn’t be rocket science for Zwift to start using a decent algorithm to DQ people because your heartrate pretty much mirrors your Watts output with obvious delays and recovery times.
Zwift could also do some really smart useful stuff like giving you a fitness score based on your age because it has access to literally millions of peoples results it can analyse.
I’ve done 4 unlocked events (and 3 unlocked races)and got HR for three of them. I only think about it for races. All 3 were not races, in fact I late-joined. My last event, I late-joined stage 3 and finished in two minutes but I had already taken my monitor off after a real race. It isn’t a big deal.
