Currently all Zwift Run activities are logged as a “run”, but I see a LOT of Zwifters just doing simple walks, myself included.
Would you consider please adding the option of categorizing our activity as a Virtual Walk activity instead of a Virtual Run activity? I notice even in Strava that even if you attempt to edit the activity to a “walk” that it won’t let you because of the file uploaded from Zwift and cannot be modified.
It is possible to modify a Zwift workout on Strava, since it might take a while for ZHQ to make this a feature, here are the steps:
- Select the workout
- On the … menu, select “Export GPX”
- Copy and save the downloaded file (not needed, but I"m paranoid)
- Open the copied version of the GPX in a text editor
- Change the type from VirtualRun to Walk ( < type >Walk< /type > ) and save as GPX
- Go back to Strava, on the … menu select “Delete”
- After deleting, go to the “+” and upload the new file
It will now show up as a Walk (as far as I know, Strava does not have a “VirtualWalk”, attempting to set the type to that causes it to load as a “Workout”)
I added spaces in the “type” area to have them show up in this forum, the spaces will not be in your GPX file.

Great stuff, Bryan, thanks for the intel! That just makes me do less walks and more actual runs on the treadmill and save the walks for outdoors.
