I don’t want RGT and Zwift to merge but it would be fantastic to see zwift move from their home brew spaghetti code to a real engine like unity, unreal, etc.
And then give us rocket launchers.
I have no real issue with how Zwift looks overall [on Ultra profile], personally. Of more value in a rewrite IMO would be to hopefully prevent the repeated bugs (some of which are already fixed and come back around again), and to try neutralise the ridiculous peaks and troughs in hardware demands. Some of that could be overcome by closer consideration of the level design, though.
the redeemer just at the base of a climb would be ideal
The look is fine, while the graphics maybe more cartoon like this is not a bad thing (Super Mario has no problem with cartoon graphics) as the one thing Zwift has done is nail the avatar movement, if you can compare that to RGT, Cadesport etc who claim better graphics the overall package looks worse which when trying to create an immersive environment for a rider Zwift still feels more natural to me.
Obviously as Dave says any improvement in code to avoid bugs and allow a faster development cycling would be a massive plus for Zwift.
If it would speed things up on development, then yes.
I worry that they’d be very worried about the sunk cost in the existing worlds and attempting to move them to something like Unreal (which I think has the closest “feel” to Zwift as it sits currently)
