Hi,
I have some trouble making my Zwift Ride Controllers work.
It’s already hard to make them appear on the list, but even if they appear, as soon as I select them, they “try to connect” for 3 seconds (like the picture below), and then they disappear and don’t show again in the list.
If I try to connect them on my phone with Compagnion App, they do fine, but my phone won’t appear on the list (when I select connect with my phone instead of bluetooth)
I connect everything in my setup with an ANT+ dongle just under my bike, except for the Controllers. My PC is approximately 2m away from my Ride Controllers. So it shouldn’t be a problem to connect. But even if I take my laptop right next to them, it won’t work. That makes me think that the problem comes from the Controllers and not from my Bluetooth.
Does anyone have know how to resolve this issue ? I know that bluetooth problems are common with Zwift, but I’m starting to get fed up with this
Thank you
You cannot connect the trainer via ANT+ if you are using virtual shifting. Pull out the ANT+ dongle and try again. If your PC Bluetooth is not adequate then we should talk about how to fix it.
Hi, Thank for the information. My trainer (Tacx neo 2t) connects fine with the Bluetooth, but the issue remains the same for the controllers.
On my main PC, it use Bluetooth 5.1 (Built in in my Asus z490e motherboard)
I tried also with my laptop and my phone, neither works. (to connect Zwift ride controllers)
I also tried without my ANT+ dongle connected, nothing changed.
Thank for your help
OK you probably did this already but just to make sure:
- Run the Companion app, go to the Equipment menu, apply any firmware updates for the Ride controls.
- Run the Tacx app, apply any firmware updates for the Neo 2T.
- Follow these instructions to try pairing via the Companion app: Using the Zwift Companion App as a Bridge
The other thing to try is a USB Bluetooth dongle. The TP-Link UB500 is a safe choice. This is the process for that:
- Go to Windows Bluetooth settings and remove all paired Bluetooth devices such as keyboard, mouse, headphones
- Go to Windows Device manager, right click on the built-in Bluetooth adapter and select Disable.
- Insert the Bluetooth USB dongle and the rest should happen automatically.
If you installed the Zwift app (not Companion) on any phone or tablet, you should remove it while you are troubleshooting to make sure there is no chance it is running while you are testing the laptop.
With a lot of effort, I managed to make my controllers connect to the companion app and to make them appear on Zwift on my PC.
I will try it in my next workout. Hoping this will be stable enough. (And worth to not be able to use my phone in my workout…)
In the meantime, I ordered a TP-Link; I will try it out.
As I would prefer to use Zwift without using Compagnion all the time. To make things easier.
I’ll be back if I need more help.
Thank for your help.
Yes pairing with Companion app is not ideal. It’s only a way to verify that the trainer and controls are OK
