Zwifts new drafting physics does some really weird things, like just randomly throwing me out of the draft, or create separate pace lines that always seems to put me into the one going backwards. As a result, I feel like I need to use Zwift play so I can steer back into the draft when Zwift randomly decides to screw me. The only problem is that when I use Zwift play, every roughly 30 seconds, the camera angle does a weird thing for a second and then snaps back to normal. It’s kinda hard to explain, but it feels like it is swinging around to show a side view or overhead view, but then it snaps back to normal. Anyone else experience this, and/or have any ideas of how to get rid of it?
Is this only in group rides, or in free rides too? It’s not the rear view function (down arrow on the controller, which is u-turn in a free ride if held) activating briefly is it?
EDIT: I just updated the firmware to the most recent, April 2024 and that seems to have fixed the issue.
I’m just got the Zwift Play controllers and in free ride I noticed the same thing. It makes my camera twitch from 3rd short to 3rd far (camera angle). I shut them off and it stopped, also it didn’t do it during a Race. The steering and brakes were disabled during the race.
It could be the “springy” camera setting.
See the springy camera link above this comment. I think the game has a bunch of settings that relate to “you have access to steering” and alter setting files. THe same is true for auto steering being worse when you’ve had controllers connected but aren’t currently using them.
