Zwift Hub + Cog Upgrade + Chain Tensioner Compatibility

I have an older 130 mm QR road frame that I’d like to use with my Zwift Hub, along with the cog and click upgrade. My plan is to use components I already have: a chain tensioner and a track crankset (1/8” chain).

Are there any reasons this setup wouldn’t work? Would it be better to ditch this idea and instead source a road derailleur and crankset?

The Cog is designed to work with 3/32" chains of 8-12 speed. My guess is any 1/8" chain is going to rub on the plastic guides, though you could use some other single speed conversion kit that doesn’t have those guides.

Are there some on the cog itself?

Either way, looks like a 1/2" X 3/32" single speed setup with a tensioner should work fine . . . thanks for engaging.

The cog itself is just a piece of metal. Shane Miller did a teardown video comparing the different cog versions that will probably answer most of your questions about the design

Oh yes, I did watch this video and was puzzled by the mention of plastic guides. However, now that I’ve re-read your message, I see that you’re referring to parts of the conversion kit itself — yes, of course. Let’ see how this plays out with 3/32" setup or a 1/8" compatible tensioner. Thanks again.
