i guess there will be a lot of refurbished units available soon.
Just for stats: updated from 3.9 to 4.0 yesterday. Update went smoothly and the trainer works fine using BT to connect with a W11 laptop and google pixel phone.
Hi there
On website of jetblackcycling, they explain how to reboot and instal again the firmaware
I think this can be a solution of the problems of 4.0
firmware⌠But do you know were to find the firmware 3.9 to download it ?
To further follow-up on my Zwift Hub saga, received my replacement Hub, and its got a nasty vibration when turning the pedals, and the belt is making a intermittent clicking sound. The Hub led is blinking red when using Bluetooth but works fine. Ant+ works fine as well. Itâs essentially unridable. Sent a note to customer service , weâll see what they say.
Well I think I resolved the vibration and clicking issue. I have a Specialized Roubaix with a rear derailleur hanger that has a interesting curve in it, as a result the supplied drive side adapter isnât long enough for my bike and requires me to put a washer on the hub assembly within the cassette. There is a separate thread in the forum on this issue. I reinstalled everything this morning, and used a new washer. No more noise and vibration. I think that this problem was caused by the washer being slightly offset and worn and must have been the cause of the noise and vibration. With this washer solution to the undersized drive side adapter, I canât tighten down the adapter too hard or it binds up the hub so it doesnât freewheel smoothly, so its a delicate adjustment.
I still have the blinking red LED on the hub, donât know what that means, so I wouldnât mind an explanation on that.
Anyway, I donât think I got a replacement unit thatâs a lemon - I am the lemon unit!
For the flashing red, youâll have to follow up with support.
Zwift Hub LEDs
Curious what the LED color means on your Zwift Hub? Weâve got you covered:
- Cycles through cycles red/blue/green: The Zwift Hub is powering on.
- Flashing blue: The Zwift Hub is ready to pair, or is paired to a device via an ANT+ connection.
- Solid blue: The Zwift Hub is paired to a device via Bluetooth.
- Flashing red: Please reach out and weâll be happy to assist. You can still use your Zwift Hub.
-
Solid red: There was an issue updating the Zwift Hub firmware.
- Turn your trainer off and on and start the firmware process again, check out this article for more info.
-
Solid purple: The Bluetooth signal is weak.
- Check out this article for info on checking your connections.
So it turns out a blinking red led on firmware V3.9 gets you a new Zwift Hub shipped to your home as well.
I donât understand this business model - this will be my 3rd Hub in 4 months.
Considering the Zwift Hub is an existing trainer (JetBlack) with new firmware, can you imagine how Zwiftâs develop-from-scratch smart bike would have gone down ⌠?
My hub is updated to the latest firmware and now I canât manually select to perform a spin down calibration.
Given that I use this for apps other than Zwift, am I right in thinking that to calibrate it I now need a Zwift subscription just to let the auto calibration do itâs thing during an in-app ride?
Hi Josh
According to Zwift response above, fw 4.0 will autocalibrate on all apps connected to it (ie the calibration is rightly calculated and stored within the hub fw and power output sent to app accordingly.
Hope this helps
Alex
I bite the bullet and installed the firmware last night. Powered on Hub, started companion app and selected device and install update. Took around 3 minutes. Hub cycled a couple of times during update. After that I closed Companion and connected, via bluetooth, to Zwift on my PC. Solid Blue light - looks good!
A couple of times I stopped peddling over 10mphs to see if anything would show it was attempting auto-calibration. Nothing displays in Zwift to say its kicked one off - might be nice to add little icon to show it did one. I can only assume that it did at this point. Didnât really notice any difference in watts etc, after, but never really see much difference with a manual calibration either. The cog still shows for a manual calibration and that shows the date that was last done. Perhaps update it there or even below the connection picture of the Hub?
Once I finished my ride I powered the hub on and off and it did the color cycle then stopped on flashing blue - as expected. It connected to companion and/or Zwift.
Worked for me it seems!
Firmware 4.0 is still not available for me.
Same. Any news on when the firmware will get a full rollout? Auto calibration was the sole reason I chose a Zwift hub over a kickr core so itâll be a shame if that feature is rolled back
Zwift Hub Firmware Release Notes still says âlimited releaseâ. Iâve had a replacement trainer for 6 weeks now, since the firmware V4 update failed on my original trainer, and Iâm still not being offered this latest release.
Please note that Hub firmware v4.0.1 has begun rollout today.
Is it safe to install?
I upgraded from 3.9 to 4.0.1 today. I just finished riding a Tour de Watopia ride and it feels much much smoother on the steep climbs. Flats feel a bit tougher but that may be because Iâm still sore from a big ride I did yesterday. It may be a bit more responsive also. Not sure. Iâm happy with it though. Knock on wood.
Worked perfectly!
Powered on Hub and opened up Companion - showed 4.01 available. Ran upgrade process - much quicker than 3.9 to 4 process. Maybe 30 seconds in total. Hub Solid blue after - great. Close companion. App. Back to flashing blue. Fired up Zwift on PC (using blue tooth dongle for connection). Hub Solid blue and working great. Worked for me too!
Had my replacement hub for nearly 2 months now, wasnât offered firmware 4.0 (which is what broke my previous one) and not seeing 4.01 yet. Really hoping to get it soon and that it works this time.
Does anyone know how long the gradual rollout will take? Any idea when I can expect to get 4.01?
