Reinstalled windows today from a iso I’d made a while ago, went for local account with no internet connected, disabled updates before reconnecting, so far so good, hopefully it was just a messed up win install
If you ever need to fetch an older ISO file of Windows, archive.org has them.
Thanks, I’ll bookmark that![]()
Is it normal that we have to uninstall windows update to be able to use Zwift? That can be harmful to the computer. Isn’t there other options? I have been directed by Zwift “support” to this forum, however, i do not want to uninstall these updates and put at risk my computer.
NO, something that Windows did is causing a lot of these issues.
Thanks Mike, so what should we do? Do we need to wait that windows or Zwift fixes it?
I ended up following the removal process from earlier in the thread and paused updates and it seems to be fixed. Fingers crossed for a proper fix before the updates are switched on again…
Hi Everyone, So after trying many different solutions proposed, it seemed that it was my network that was creating the issue. I downloaded again Zwift through hotspotting my phone and it managed to upload. No more freezing.
I’ve rolled back Windows updates. Paused updates, and uninstalled and reinstalled zwift - still freezing during the loading screen right as it says “Login Successful”.
Please report this issue to support@zwift.com. They may prioritize it if there are a lot of reports. It turns out the problem affects many Nvidia graphics cards, and even reinstalling Win11 doesn’t solve the problem.
Bingo! The latest Win11 update KB5077241 fixes the issue! Zwift runs on the Nvidia card and doesn’t freeze the system.
Still locking up in Watopia or Scotland. I did the uninstall and reinstall.
My Computer just updated to KB5077181 Late Yesterday. Today the computer froze at the same place as with the earlier KB loading the Route. Uninstalled the new KB and it works again.
UPDATE February 27
Hey folks - for those of you that have tried updating to a more recent Windows patch without success - we have a workaround we’d like you to try.
This workaround should stabilize the system freeze, but will reduce visual quality when running Zwift.
Please join us on the workaround thread.
nope….i tried and it still graphically freezing about 9 miles into the ride. zwift is still running but the graphics are frozen
This seems to suggest that it’s just Windows 10 with the issue still persisting. It’s not. I’m on Windows 11 and the issue continues with the most recent updates all installed.
This has been ongoing for literal months now, are you offering credits for account holders?
We need a proper fix, we are paying for this service. I’m uninstalling a security update every time windows pushes it down. Do better or I’m off.
Win 11.
Hey @steve_jones7 - I noticed you haven’t tried the workaround posted above: Zwift freezing during startup and locking Windows [January 2026] - #219
Can you give that a try to see if it helps for now, it would at least help you not have to uninstall these security updates.
Let us know in the thread how that goes.
I think i’m giving up, like most I use a tiny keyboard when using zwift. I can easily search a forum, downloading other variations, is not easy. It’s been what 2+ months now? Where every other week I lose a session. I’ll not be back when I turn it off for summer. I never used to stop the subscription, but frankly the support is non existent.
I only got to test it now but applying all the latest updates for win10 and Zwift solved it for me. I think it was solved already a while ago for win 10 it seems, but there seem to be problems for win 11 still according to the thread shared somewhere in this thread (can’t have URLs in this post, so can’t link it)
