Zwift crashing on startup [AppleTV] [1.30] [October 2022] [SOLVED]

To be more specific, pic below of my old TV i use for zwift. I just did a factory reset on it: no impact. I attached the make of my oldest AppleTV as well, it’s on the newest firmware.

This combo was working 2 days ago before the zwift update.

Ok final update: only my middle aged AppleTV (also A1625) runs the latest version of Zwift on all 3 of my TV’s. My newest AppleTV (A1842) and my oldest AppleTV do not run Zwift anymore since the latest update on neither 3 TV’s…

Does that make sense?!

This is getting ridiculous. If this is going to take a week to get fixed you really should be able to do a rollback on ATV devices to use the older version while we wait for a solution. A large and paid service like Zwift should be able to prioritize an issue like this. Disappointed.

Hopefully thre is a timeplan to implement the fix by now. If there is not . I would suggest a Rollback. Thanks

Is getting a bit silly this, its broken and 3 days later still not fixed. At least give a roll back option please.

Tried everything same as everyone. Previous user said he downloaded RGT and Zwift then worked. I’ve just done the same while downloading RGT it has suddenly worked.

It was ‘she’ not ‘he’, but I’ll let you off

My sense is the act of downloading anything created a consistent enough Wi-Fi connection that Zwift could work.

For users still not working, it might be worth trying to download any app and whilst it’s downloading, see if you can get Zwift to load. I’d suggest a large app - RGT worked for me, but you could also use something like Facebook.

Oops sorry. :flushed:

Certainly share in your disappointment - Another day and still unable to launch the app. I’m sure the team is actively working on a solution and appreciate their efforts; but as a company Zwift has been a real let down with numerous crashes and bugs during promoted events & now I can’t even manage to launch the app.
I’ve downloaded FulGaz and will be checking out the other options…something I’d previously considered, but now have literally no other option if I want to use my trainer.

Just checking, is https://status.zwift.com/ just a nice to have or a tick box exercise? Not been updated in quite a while by the looks of it?

This issue still not fixed then, still very little in the way of comms and signposting to support users as to what is going on.

This sounds like a really edge solution, but it might just work. I had been through the remove/reboot/re-install route as well as the “keep trying to launch” - nothing worked consistently.

I accidentally started to stream Apple Music through my ATV - and Zwift started. So the “have a steady connection” might work. My Wifi connection is pretty solid so no idea why Zwift is having issues.

I need to find a long ethernet cable… or Zwift need to downgrade for a while.

hi all. I’ve also been suffering from this problem since the update (Apple TV HD on WiFi). I’ve been through numerous resets and reinstalls and for no rhyme or reason it’s suddenly worked. one thing I did notice is when it kicked me back to the home screen, I double-clicked on the home button of the apple remote (to open the app switcher) and zwift hadn’t quit at all, it was still open on the blue screen. I simply navigated to it and it loaded into the login screen successfully.

after a little pedal, I quit the app and reopened but it bugged out again. repeated the same step and it worked. so I guess what I’m saying is when it kicks you back to the home screen, open the app switcher and select the zwift window.

never-the-less I’ve ordered an ethernet cable to provide a more steadfast fix til this is officially sorted

I have a wired connection to my ATV and have the issue

That’s disappointing to hear. I’ll stop looking for a cable then.

Downgrade gets my vote…

Not wishing to tempt fate, but contrary to my previous post about giving up, just tried it for the first time today and it fired straight into Zwift.

FYI I just tried my method above again and it works 100%. Once you get kicked back to the Home Screen, open your app switcher and simply go back to the blue zwift screen. It’ll stay like that for 10 seconds or so then load in. Hope this works for others

That didn’t work for me (tried it repeatedly), but a wired connection did, but whatever works is good.

UPDATE October 21

Good news, everyone: We’ve found a fix for this issue and will release a patch ASAP. Keep watching this thread for an update when it’s in the Apple App Store.

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to send in their tvOS system logs, and also those who provided important information in this thread.

Good news thanks ! I managed to get on tonight after 10 attempts but was kicked off completely after 55 mins.

Fingers crossed for the patch.

As a non tech person, what I find frustrating is that zwift do not publicise via Social media that there is a problem and I have to post questions and get signposted here.

Xbox do this on games when they have issues. It would have allowed me to know about this in advance and therefore use an iPad or some other alternative.

:100: I’d love it if they updated https://status.zwift.com/ when major incidents occur, such as a broken release of client software, or all events disappearing.
