Zwift crashes when starting (pressing "Let's go") on OSX Ventura BETA 13.0

I’ve upgraded to OSX Ventura 13.0 Beta and now I can’t start Zwift anymore on my MacBook Pro M1Max. After pressing “Let’s go” the Window/App disappears/crashes.
Same on my MacBookPro M1(13") after Upgrade to OSX Ventura 13.0 Beta.

I already deinstalled Zwift, wiped the ZWIFT-Folder under Documents and reinstalled.
Known problem?

Michael

I’ve just tried this on my MBP M1 Pro, running Ventura developer beta 3 (same as public beta 1 - edit: confirmed same build number as you) and it runs fine for me.

I’ve previously tried Zwift on dev beta 1 and 2 without incident, on a M1 Pro (not Max).

Try running Console.app and see if there are any unusual crash reports?

Hi Kevin,

started the ZwiftLauncher in an ITerm2:

Seems to be Rosetta-related?
Does this help?

Yes, I think you might be onto to something with the rosetta error, that doesn’t appear in my logs when I run from the command line. It just continues to expand all the wad files, as normal.

You can try this to install Rosetta2, which will download and install it for you:
/usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

Hopefully that will do it for you.

It’s a beta release! Even parts of the Ventura don’t work as they should or break from one beta to the next beta release candidate. You can’t expect Zwift or any other software to officially support running on a beta OS. Hell, there are still people complaining Zwift won’t start/run on Monterey which has been out for about a year.

As for Rosetta, you’ll definitely need to install Rosetta if you want to have any chance of Zwift working. Zwift does not run natively on Apple silicon.

I know it’s a beta, which is why it’s installed on only one of my machines! I’ve been running Apple developer betas on macOS and iOS/iPadOS for as long as I can remember, and know how bad some have been. iOS7 :man_facepalming:t3: Ventura is, hmmmm, the proverbial curate’s egg.

I’m certainly not expecting Zwift to support, though I do expect them to be running developer betas in-house to be fully prepared to support on the Day 1 launch of the new OS.

However, Zwift appears to run fine on Ventura dev beta 3 based on my small scale testing so far. Same for iPadOS 16.

Hi @Michael_Mockel welcome to Zwift forums.

Zwift does not support beta versions of operating systems per our Support Hub article. @Lin_Alan eloquently articulates the challenges for any app developer to keep up with changes made by Apple at the OS level.

Hi Guys,
sorry for the inconvenience - the problem was solved after rebooting my MBPs :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :see_no_evil:
