Can we get a “Include Riding” toggle, for those pure runners? :smiling_face_with_horns:

No problems at all with version 3.78 on Android, its doing everything pretty well as it stands.

The App still needs to be able to move from Portrait to Landscape, this would then open up a lot more graphics options to help free up the main screen.

Overall the companion app has pretty low uptake, hardly anyone uses it during the actual rides so it needs to be made to be more of a must have feature for riders.

Looking over my past screenshots, I’d say it’s between 30 and 50% on most of the rides, I prefer it while riding, so I can disable the HUD when it gets too cluttered and still see the map, as well as doing workouts.

I ride and take note as for users on the App, its shown in the HUD on the right as a phone icon if I’m correct. I would estimate on most free route riders and pacer rides the uptake is 10-20% at best.

If it was made a more useful tool, you could use it in landscape and drop all the HUD to the App at the press of the “H button” to the exiting Map screen it would be awesome.

I do this quite a bit on free rides when you are just not interested in what others are doing and you just want to see the pure amazing graphics in 4K on the big screen. The dots of riders on the App map is enough to see how far the nearest rider is in front or behind and its all you need in this mode of riding.

The advantage of the App is control because my keyboard is out of reach and a touchscreen is way better. The App would then be a “Must have” while riding in my opinion.

There’s a big difference between those who aren’t using ZC during their rides and those who aren’t using ZC at all.

Well obviously it’s a great way to remotely use to see what your mates are up to and join rides but what is clear is People do not need it while riding. It needs features that make it a must have during a ride.

To me, it is a must have during the ride, since Zwift will not allow the user to manage the main display beyond “on or off”, and they keep adding features that clutter the display more. I don’t want to see that I am now on target to finish a climb in the 258th position, with a thumberstorm going off, and every third persons name placard, I want to see the road ahead of me, so the HUD goes away. I do want to see the other riders locations on the map, as well as my personal metrics, so ZCA is always in use for me, for that and the simple controls (I don’t use my PC keyboard)

Is there anything in the works to remove walks from the Fitness Tracker? Or, if nothing else, at least get them assigned a reasonable SP value.

It can’t be a “must have” for someone running Zwift on a phone and not owning another phone. It has to be optional.

You missed the point its the companion App itself that needs to be a “Must have” running while doing the ride, not that you need a second device. People need to find the App so useful, everyone wants to run it. Currently its probably 1 in 5 riders using it, that’s not high enough. Clearly the features it has currently are just not at the point that everyone is running it during a ride.

I would disagree with this. Some people really just want to ride and not fiddle with a phone, for those folks there is no “need” to have the companion app, and that is ok. From a business perspective Zwift will get their subscription money either way.

As Paul mentioned, some people use their phone for the main Zwift app in certain scenarios, and it would be silly to require them to also use a companion app on that phone at the same time, or another device they otherwise wouldn’t need to use.

The companion app has some great uses, but not everybody “needs” it, and that is ok.

Um, no. I am nearly always doing a workout on Zwift. Why would the Companion app be a ‘must have’ for me? Also, when on a PC (and I’ll admit it’s been years since I have done so), the Companion app is, IMO, far less needed than when on a phone or tablet. When I was using ZC more frequently it was to give Ride Ons or to message. Messaging within the Zwift Game itself is much easier with a PC (thanks to a dedicated keyboard), and I can give Ride Ons using a Click or Play controller (and I rarely send a message while doing workouts). So, the ZC is definitely not a ‘must have’. It’s a ‘nice if/when you want/need it’ sort of thing.

I can see I’m kind of wasting my time trying to explain it to people.

Get a top end rig, decent graphics and you suddenly get the desire to remove the HUD from the main screen but still be able to have the option to see it on something else like a cheap tablet running in Landscape not Portrait as an overlay on the current MAP screen.

Its a no brainer, you don’t need the HUD in your face for 90% of the ride. I have a tablet velcro’d to an old monitor arm, its setup right besides the WattBike screen. I’m running 3 screens at the same time, its looks busier than an F35 cockpit but it works.

The reality is that there are many types of people, with many different preferences/needs/desires. And to have you on here regularly opining about how everyone should want what you think is best is just getting tiresome.

Please do continue to express your opinion, but please refrain from telling everyone else what they should want.

Hola que tal … se podría incluir en zwift companion el porcentaje de las subidas y bajadas de las rutas

Gracias

I really like using the ZCA as a compliment to the game.

I would like to see some lay out changes of ZCA.

The uses I have for ZCA are triggering power ups, giving ride ones, messaging the group and flagging suspicious riders.

The amount of toggling between these actions and the small text , makes this difficult.

I have never flagged a rider because I was not able to get to the proper screen fast enough to do so. Admittedly, the first time was a complete failure because I had never investigated how to do it but the second time, the process was just cumbersome.

I mostly give Ride ons and message.

The map on ZCA can be a nice feature but the screen is a bit cluttered so a clean map option would be nice.

Various different screens could come up by simply rotating the screen, this would have zero impact on existing users that don’t want to change anything at all. You don’t even need a toggle switch to make the change you just physically turn the screen.

The Map screen appears cluttered as its not really a “Full Screen” mode to start with and the button could be slightly smaller if you move to a tablet and you would no longer need to swipe left or right to get ALL the buttons on the screen at the same time. The bigger the screen the easier it is to move the entire HUD down to it and still have enough of the map itself clearly visible.

Not flagged a suspicious rider but have used all the other options. The button that drops all the text I use all the time but its a bit of a pain to have to continually toggle it on and off when needed.

I’m still seeing runs (well, actually walks) being included in my weekly goal totals, even though I have turned that toggle off.
