Zwift Companion hotspot compatibility

I currently use Zwift on my computer (macbook air) and get my internet from my iPhone’s hotspot. Unfortunately for me, the companion app only works if both the phone and the computer are on the same wifi network but if if you are using a hotspot then you simply can’t use the app much to my annoyance.

Zwift, please fix this

Thank you

iPhone’s personal hotspot has client isolation where connected devices can’t see each other and also can’t see the iPhone itself. This is a security feature and can’t be turned off.

A workaround is to have a second iPhone and run Zwift Companion on that. Connect this second iPhone to your first iPhone via its Wi-Fi hotspot. Connect your laptop on which you run the Zwift game to the same Wi-Fi hotspot on the first IPhone. Active mode of the Zwift Companion app should turn on automatically as soon as you log into the Zwift game on your laptop.

I also disable cellular data on my second iPhone to ensure that it is only connecting to the Wi-Fi hotspot of the first iPhone.
