hey im pretty new to zwift (got my bike like nearly 2 weeks ago). everything is working perfectly but for some reason the swift companion app does not track anything for me.
my setup: kickr core v2, zwift ride smart + my phone (xiaomi) + zwift app (newest verison ofc) and im streaming zwift app on my tv using chromecast
everything works fine in the zwift app and i downloaded the zwift companion app (also newst version) after 2-3 rides. i logged in with my zwift account and wanted to use the companion app aswell. i picked a ride and completed it but the companion app is not showing anything for me (it says i havent even done 1 min of training).
yes same network since im only using my phone for both apps, newst version on both apps aswell and honestly i dont know what could potentically cause this problem.
hopefully someone can help me here
thanks in advance
also sorry for my bad english im not a native speaker at all
You can’t use one phone for both apps. The Zwift app must be in the foreground on the phone all the time. Companion has to run on a second device. That device could be a very inexpensive phone, such as a used phone that doesn’t have cellular service and runs Android 9 or newer or iOS 16 or newer
omg wow thank you so much! well this will be a gamechanger, time to get a extra laptop for zwift
The easiest laptop choice is a Mac since those all work well and get a nice graphics profile in the game. If you prefer a Windows laptop, the most important thing to know is you must not buy a Microsoft Surface laptop with a Snapdragon (ARM) CPU. Inexpensive Windows laptops can work OK, but if they have integrated graphics (built into the CPU) then the graphics quality will be low. A Windows gaming laptop with an Nvidia GPU will be good but costs more. If you share the make/model of any laptop you are looking at I can offer some information about how well it will work.
I was thinking about the hp elitebook 855 g7 with 16gb ram dual channel ddr4 3200mhz, 256gb ssd, Ryzen 3 4450U 4core with 2,5ghz base, that should do the work just fine? Ohh and gpu is AMD Radeon™ Graphics - RX Vega 5, thats not a gaming laptop but a pretty decent office business laptop? But yeah that gpu is built into the cpu
Currently any PC with an integrated GPU will get the Basic profile in Zwift, which is the lowest level of graphics quality. The Ryzen 3 4450U also has a pretty low clock speed which will limit frame rates. So yes it will work, but it won’t look nearly as good as something that gets the High or Ultra graphics profile. To get that from a laptop you would need either a gaming laptop or a MacBook. It is totally OK if you don’t care about the graphics - many people use laptops like that or Apple TV and are satisfied with it. If you want the game to look its best, that laptop won’t do it. Of course it is inexpensive so if that’s the most important thing, it will do.
