I agree.
Question is how much Watopia can be expanded before hitting some engine or server critical mass - or potato owner’s critical mass? (I know they have a small expansion in development already and I don’t care because it isn’t Mallorca.)
I mean, you might want to slap Mallorca and Flanders and whatnot onto Watopia, but maybe that isn’t possible. If so, then the right thing to do would not be to leave Bologna et al as satellites in icy orbit around Watopia, but to glue newer content together. If not a new competing planet - maybe They dislike the idea of putting Watopia under harder competition - then can we please at least have a big chunky moon that ties expansions together?
Obviously, the center of such a new moon should be Mallorca (or ’Watorca’ or whatever) as it is the actual center of the Earth, everyone knows that. Plus there’s the donkey shortage issue, quite serious. But I also don’t see why there couldn’t be underwater tunnels going straight to Flanders or northern Italy from there.
They don’t want to spread users too thin and I think we agree. But I think the reason why Watopia is always the by far most populated in any daily rotation is not only size but also that e.g. Scotland, which offers good courses, feels more like an isolated satellite. ”Nah, let’s go where everyone else is today. So Watopia it is, again.”
Ultimately, one day, I’d like to see the principle that Watopia should always be on the menu challenged. That there was a rotation between Watopia and one other big world, also with pacer bots. It would make both worlds more fun and longed for.
Well, ultimately, what I really would like to see is a graphics engine v2.0 to counter the market competition, but if we can’t have that, then a new world, or moon, would still go a long way.
And Mallorca is the obvious first step in that direction. Think about it, isn’t there a need for a climb that is only half as intimidating as TdZ but also no less, and quite iconic too? Mallorca has that. Nice flats, the rurals, drive by the Palma marine, some cobbles through the town… You could also squeeze in some more gravel and MTB content there. And so on. It’s perfect.
