I don’t know if anyone else is having this issue, I can’t see any Zwift Academy 2024 workouts. I am registered for ZA '24. I can’t see them on the homepage on the Companion App or in the Workouts folder still. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Same issue here
Is the zwift academy individual workouts or do they offer the group workouts? I can’t find the rides on the companion app.
The only ZA group workouts on the calendar are women-only this year
the ZA workouts were added to the club workout library so you can schedule your own group workouts with your club
I’m trying to figure out how to sign up as I don’t see them in Events or in workouts list. In past I just clicked on the number and it would bring up options. Now what?
Maria
click on the huge ZA banner at the top of the home screen
Hey @Maria_Saiz!
You can sign up by clicking the ZA tile at the top of the main page in Zwift Game, by selecting the tile on for Zwift Academy on the challenges row, or by using this link.
This year, there are no group workouts available on the calendar to allow you the freedom to do the workouts on your own schedule. Full program details can be found here but please let us know if there are any questions
Ride on.
Are the workouts not available to see on the Zwift companion app? Pics of my app home screen and workouts screen to show I don’t seem to have any ZA 24 workouts as an option, thanks, Pete
I’m also disappointed that Zwift is not having group workouts for this years Zwift Academy. I also have no chance at the pro contract and will miss the community aspect with the canceling of ZA group workouts. Like you mentioned, removing the group aspect takes away the fun.
I have the impression that Zwift Academy is less about group training for everyday riders and more about finding talent for pro race teams, thus making a name for Zwift. Some of the reviews I’ve read mention that ZA has progressed from decent workouts to power tests for measuring an individual’s performance. No thanks.
Those are still good workouts for you to try, the first one fatigues you with 30 second and 1 minute all out efforts then hits you with a 10 minute block to make you hurt then pushes you to do 15 minutes at above FTP. That’s hard and it’s a good training effort.
I won’t be ZA pro material either as I’m too old but the first workout was a good way to validate the training I’ve done recently (which is all plans I’ve done myself) is working.
The number of people commenting about the lack of group workouts, combined with the fact that the ZA workouts are not - and really haven’t ever been - a good ‘training plan’ makes me wonder if there would be sufficient interest amongst Zwift users to run something like the “Build Me Up” training plan as a sort of event, with only group workouts, and with a few unlocks along the way, and for completion .
I would personally love it if Zwift had an actual training plan as part of ZA or another event, as it stands right now I can’t even really point to any training plan on Zwift that I think would fit the bill. Build Me Up for instance contains too many consecutive days of intensity for what I would be looking for, but the ZA workouts tended to be “one per week” (6 workouts for 6 weeks)… which is not really a training plan.
I’d personally like to see a simple training plan that was either pyramidal, or polarized with 2 or 3 hard days a week then some volume, which has progressive loading over 3 weeks, then one week “rest”, then 3 weeks of progressive load etc. Ahead of this plan if there was a ‘base’ plan whose main goal was to prepare a rider who doesn’t already have a ton of volume ahead of the progression of the pyramidal/polarized sessions, that would be nice.
Right now I can’t point to any training plan on Zwift that kinda fits that bill. Maybe it’s a dumb way to train, but it’s kinda what I’d be looking for at this moment.
that’s the best way to train from what I’ve read
Have you thought about creating your own workouts?
It’s not a dumb way to train, you need to do the base training particularly if you are off the bike for a while. Unfortunately an FTP test or equivalent is also necessary.
There is also nothing I’ve seen in the Zwift library that is classic strength endurance training like 5x5 at low cadence (55-60rpm), 6x5, 7x5, 3x10min etc. Simple bread and butter workouts that really work, you build up leg strength and try to remain nice and stable on the bike and with your heart rate staying fairly low.
In the past, I thought it was a big wing the addition of “free rides” within group workouts for Zwift academy… one really pushes harder when been challenged by others; now, that group workouts went away, I don’t even see the point of doing the workouts… I guess I can still do the races…!?
Sadly, Zwift Academy keeps going South…
That’s actually what I do currently for a couple of key workouts, but it’d be nice for them to have a plan that somewhat mimics this type of thing as part of a ZA style event, or even just as a training plan that did something similar.
Personally I intend to just cruise through the races with minimum effort. Unless they make them a race up Ventop. Racing on Zwift is totally unrealistic and has no use whatsoever when it comes to real racing where other skills come into play, like following wheels, riding in a bunch, bike handling, descending and knowing how to sprint properly.
The free ride parts of some workouts were good to find my power has increased, but that’s from the training I’ve done already and nothing about Zwift Academy.
I have my own physical impairments that also prevent me doing certain parts of the workouts at the best power, so anything sprint related forget it.
… let’s get real, just 1 in 100,000 Zwift users got a chance of “a chance” of maybe some sort of exposure with a pro team… the MvdP and Pogacar of the world aren’t discovered in Zwift LOL; the likelihood of a “true” pro contract via Zwift Academy is as probable as winning the lottery. For the majority of users, Zwift Academy is just a way to improve fitness -I’ll kill for a quality training program TrainerRoad style but in Zwift!
Actually, for the majority of Zwift users, I think ZA is just a path to get a decent ‘paint job’ for your in-game Canyon Aeroad!!
