Workout - Holiday Pause

+1 here too. I’ve missed 3 weeks due to illness and don’t seem to be able to reset the training - so will probably go and do some free riding and only commit to shorter plans for now I think.

This would be a super useful feature! I travel a lot for work, and am new to Zwift. I’m afraid to start a 12-week plan knowing that inevitably two or three of those weeks I’ll be in a different country and unable to complete my workouts. It would be really great to pause (I’d even be okay with having to repeat the previous week if it meant that I could hop back into the training program without having to restart).

+1 from me as well.
Going on a snowboard trip this week, so I will now lose 8 days of the workout plan.
If I have to restart my plan, I will seriously consider other options. For 15 euros a month, one should at least have the freedom to proceed with the workout plans as you desire.

Not saying anything that hasn’t already been said, but the more people that do make a comment the better I guess.

I am going on a trip with work for a week with no way to take my trainer and all the kit with me. I have only completed two of the workout sessions so far but not having the option to pause is making me consider quitting the plan already. The likelihood of being able to find a window of time to complete a multi-month training plan without the opportunity to pause is very low indeed because life (illness/work commitments/holidays) happens.

Sick once again… 5 weeks into gravel grinder. Hurts to lose out on workouts considering they do build on previous weeks. Seems like an easy fix, but I’m curious if any of the ‘suggestions’ have actually been incorporated?

This seems to be a popular request and zwift is obviously aware but Ill throw my 2 cents here too just so they see this is something the community really wants.
I totally understand the arguements that I see from Zwift that pausing a training plan isnt the proper way to go about it - but id also argue that being forced to miss 4-5 sessions and jump back in also isnt a great way to build on your form. Life happens, and thats one of the big things that makes Zwift appeal to a lot of us, the flexibility to jump on the trainer and squeeze in sessions around our daily routines.
Ive been on Zwift for a few years now and have used the 12 week ftp builder each winter to get some structured training. Before, if i got sick or kids got sick I could make the choice myself to either skip the workouts I missed or pick up where I left off depending on my form.
I dont think anyone is argueing that its ideal to pause a training plan but like I said - life happens. I think what most of us just want is the option to choose what we feel works for us.

I am going for skiing holiday for abt 8 days, so it seems I will lose important part of my current plan, making no sense but restart it. Fortunately, I will lose only two weeks. Understanding Zwifts approach to a plan being a consistent plan, not something you can hop-on, hop-off, maybe for a breaks up to, say, 7-10 days, they could propose some "getting back on track" plan, e.g. repeating some of the previous sessions, repeating your last week fully done etc.

Going to Brazil to 10 days in mid- February, which will end my plan.

Holiday, for sickness or travel, seems key.

I feel like Zwift isn’t keeping up with this thread. @Vincent_Williams1

In another thread similar to this one, it said it “wouldn’t be appropriate” to continue where you left off, since training is “complex” and your body can’t pick up where you left off after a week or two, but if we are forced after a week or two off to come back in a progressively harder training plan, you are coming back in a much harder workout than you left off, so their logic makes no sense. (see the thread here https://forums.zwift.com/t/pausing-training-plans/12899)

I do CrossFit twice a week at minimum and downhill ski two days a week (from first chair to last). Some days my body needs a rest, but I can’t since I can’t pause my Zwift training plan. A suggestion would be that they don’t need to be done on on a weekly basis. If you skip a day, your 12 week training plan just turned into a 12 week and 1 day training plan. No need to cut off the workouts after each week, if you weren’t able to finish them all, roll them over. Even in the training plans, it says rest days are essential. How am I supposed to have a rest day if this training plan won’t let me rest with a day off? In January I had 3 days where I skied all day and came back to do an hour-plus Zwift workout just because I you can’t put off a day. So in January, I logged 34 activities on Strava and had no rest days the whole month.

Also, the way we can’t pause the training plans, this makes it harder for us to enjoy the other features of Zwift, like group rides and races. Since we can’t pause our plan, we are basically forced to do our training workout than joining in on a fun group ride.

Currently being sick I will not be able to ride for a week. I’m on week 8 of a 12 week training plan…

If you pause a training you should be able to select if you where sick, on holiday,… and depending on that selelection and the time being off it would be fine by me if when I want to continue a training plan that I would need to do some sort of “getting back on track” training before being able to continue. These rides can be generic an totally based on our ftp for the intensity. 1 week of results in 1 week getting back on track, 2 weeks off 2 weeks…
Only one remark with this… I would also suggest that if you pauze it for 5 weeks (max 1/3 of the duration of the trainin plan) or longer that you are forced to start over again from the start.
This way longer training plans only get extended. After being sick now we are forced to pick up at a higher intensity or start over again.

Another voice for this - I’m away with the kids for half-term and then will be missing at least 3 if not 4 sessions, so will be behind… as a reasonably new user (3 months subscription for Christmas present) I like the training plans section as this wasn’t there when I did a trial early in 2018, but it would be good to see more flexibility. Zwift, please let us know:

  • is there going to be an option to pause training plans?
  • if so, what’s the development timeline?

Many thanks in advance of a reply.

I am sometimes on business trips around a complete week therefore a “pause” button would be helpful not to loose a lot of workouts.

Thanks for your reply

Best exercise choice for women in their 40’s will be a decent opposition preparing program. It’s unfathomably critical for ladies at this age, to begin with, a quality preparing exercise if they have not yet as of now because, at this age, you are at a higher risk of losing lean muscle mass.

+1 on this!

Started into a 12-week training plan, and got sick for a couple days… ok, no big deal… then my trainer stopped working and I had to wait about 2 weeks for them to ship a replacement…

Ideally, I’d like to ride a few rides to get my legs back, and then start the training where I left off, but my only options are to start back into the 12-week plan from scratch (which creates a timing issue with a race)… or I pickup in the 12-week plan after missing a bunch of the training sessions… would really like to be able to pause the training plan, and pick it up when ready to startup again… you never know what’s going to happen in life…for the non-professional rider, life/reality sometimes gets in the way of riding.

Agree…please add. I travel frequently and, for example was on a sort trip this past week and am no longer able to complete my previous workout. Maybe add the ability to complete workouts late but not later than a certain number of days after the overall workout period. That might allow a rider to slide a couple of workouts a couple of days and then be back on schedule.

I’ve had to back out of multiple training plans at this point as missing either weeks for travel or individual rides secondary to life getting in the way.
It makes zero sense to advance a trainee to the next ride without establishing the foundation provided by the prior ride.
Going to have to look at alternative software for formal training. Zwift is nice for racing and group rides, but they obviously have no interest in addressing this simple issue. Anyone familiar with Sufferfest and TrainerRoad and able to compare them or recommend one over the other for training purposes?

+1 This is not just a nice to have, but essential. Think of those who use Swift and it covers a range of people from winter trainers to those who find it hard/ can’t get out on the road. Beginners, rehabbers, family or work commitments, disabilities etc etc. For each of them training programmes are an essential part of the experience - but as with everyone else sometimes life gets in the way. injury, illness, work commitments, trips, holidays, tech issues, mechanicals etc etc.

Personally I started cycling a year ago. Huge health benefits and personal/social changes. Then winter arrived. Swift has been transformational and has led to huge changes in my health (mental and physical) over winter. The build me up training plan has been a huge motivator. Made me achieve things I never could have hoped for… week 11 and I have tech issues. Means I’m missing most of the last week - complete downer and left a sour taste as there is no way I can go back and recover week 11. Hugely demotivating. :frowning:

+1 one more time. I’ve missed 1 week on the FTP builder due to illness and was unable to reset the training. Would not sign up for a new plan before I have a reset/rewind feature

I am sure the 6 and 12 week FTP builder can be done as normal workouts you don’t have to enroll into the plan to do them.

Iwork away on a 3 and 3 rotation. i haven’t really started any workouts knowing i will have to ditch them after 3 weeks.
if i could complete parts by “other means” - Wattbike at work not connected to internet.
then click a completed button online and keep track maybe…
